I'm using Sonic Foundry Acid pro 4.0c and now I wonder how I can change the key of the loops to minor, I can only chose major chords in the keychangelist. |

That is dependent on the loops themselves. Acid won't (nor would there be any way to) change the chord from major to minor, which is why there isn't the variation available. "A" can be A Major or A Minor -- again, it all depends on the loops you use. There are some libraries out there that offer major & minor versions of "the same thing," but most don't. |

Adding to what Jess said, ACID only uses the keys as a point of reference. For example, you could make an A Major loop and ACIDize it as C Major and ACID wouldn't know the difference; it only does what you tell it. There's a bit of a misconception that ACID can tell the pitch of a loop when it can't. Basically, the ability to change and work with keys is a tool for the composer to implement. I concur. ACID is merely transposing pitch mathematically; it cannot "hear" pitch. One way to "get around this" is to select the major chord loop which is a minor third above (or major sixth below) the minor chord you need. The bass would play the root note of the minor chord on another track. For example, if you need an A minor (Am) chord, you would select a C major chord and have the bass play an A note. Of course, the net result is not a pure minor chord, but, rather, a minor seventh chord. Sometimes it fits the bill, sometimes not...depends on the tune, the style/genre, and/or the artist/composer/producer's taste...to each his/her own. :) Best regards, Mike E. Dee |
