As a refresher to everyone reading this forum, please see the following service rules inherent in the Terms and Conditions that govern the use of these forums.

For the complete Terms and Conditions that govern the use of this site, please see this link.

SERVICE RULES
You are entirely responsible and liable for all activities conducted by you and any authorized user of your Account while utilizing the Services, including the transmission, posting, or other provision of text, files, links, software, photographs, video, sound, music or other information or material to any portion of the Services ("Service Content"). Listed below are some, though not all, violations that may be punishable by law or may also result in SPD terminating or suspending your access to the Services.

Impersonate in any of the Services any person, including, but not limited to, a SPD or Site official, chat or message board leader, guide or host or expert;
Disrupt the normal flow of dialogue in a SPD chat room or forum, or otherwise act in a manner that negatively affects other participants;
Post or transmit any unsolicited advertising, promotional materials, or any other forms of solicitation of a commercial nature while using the Services;

Invade the privacy or violate any personal or proprietary right of any person or entity; and
Infringe the intellectual property rights or similar rights, including, but not limited to, copyrights and trademarks, of any person or entity.
By posting or uploading Service Content to any Service, you automatically grant (or warrant that the owner of such rights has expressly granted) SPD a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, irrevocable, non-exclusive right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, transmit, sub-license, create derivative works from and distribute such materials or incorporate such Services Content into any form, medium, or technology now known or later developed throughout the universe. In addition, you warrant that the Service Content as uploaded or posted by you does not violate any person's so called "Rights of Authors" or "Moral Rights" (Droit Morale) (or other similar or analogous rights under any applicable laws of any country of the world).

You understand that the uploading to and/or posting of any Service Content using any Service shall not be subject to any obligation of confidence on the part of SPD, and SPD shall not be liable for any use or disclosure of any Content.

You agree to indemnify SPD and all of its affiliates, subsidiaries and assigns, for any and all claims, damages, losses, and causes of action arising as a result of your posting or uploading and/or exhibiting any Service Content to any Service or your failure to comply with these TOS. While SPD does not and cannot regularly review Service Content posted by users of the Site and is not responsible for the content of these submissions, SPD reserves the right to delete, move, take down, restrict access to or edit Service Content that it, in its sole discretion, deems abusive, defamatory, obscene, in violation of copyright or trademark laws, violates any person's rights of privacy or publicity or otherwise unacceptable and/or violates the terms of these Community Guidelines.

Yes...definately! Apparently CEO didn't read the agreement before he signed up and started all this lawsuit nonsense.
cosmo wrote on 2/14/2005, 12:48 PM
agreed.
theceo wrote on 2/14/2005, 12:50 PM
Actually, there's several people who have harassed me for days, I'm allowed to sue ANYONE that lies about me or harasses me. If you do it here and Sony doesn't remove the LIES then they get sued. So far Sony has been removing all the BS you people are saying. It took a couple of days for them to start cleaning but they're doing it. Look at all the posts they have deleted.

Apparently you missed this part when you agreed to it by signing up to be a user on the forums:

what a dumb-*ss you're proving yourself to be, theceo.
MUTTLEY wrote on 2/14/2005, 12:59 PM
Here Here SonyJ_Do ! By those rules it seems you have plenty of justification to ban theceo and delete his topics.

As a precedence I would like to kindly ask that theceo be banned A.S.A.P. and would suggest that other members of the forum that feel likewise to state so in this thread. The cause being his persistent and ceaseless need to :

"Harass, threaten, embarrass or cause distress or discomfort upon another Services participant, user or other individual or entity"

Sony J Do:

See this link:

http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/12/14/1732238&tid=95&tid=133

And do a google search for Sollog aka John P. Ennis, aka Nic Ensley. This guy is a well known forum troll, with a long history of flame baiting, and making legal threats. He also has a history of attempting to make people's lives miserable (see Jimmy Wales) if they get tempted into trading personal insults. This is obviously detrimental to this (normally placid and interesting) forum. I imagine if we all ignored him, he would go away, but since that isn't going to happen, is it possible to wipe his posts more vigilantly for the next few days?

Thanks,
Kevin

Very interesting article....and all the links in it check out with the same crappy graphics and the Adoni copyright at the bottom of the page that matches all the sites that he "claims" are owned and run by his company.

Nice find!

No question he needs to go. Add my name to the list.

haha the public company that owns slashdot and the owner of wiki all got sued haha
Jsnkc wrote on 2/14/2005, 1:19 PM
There's a big diffrence between getting sued and actually winning a lawsuit. Getting sued is nothing, and I'm sure that they will all win their cases with no problems at all....if these cases even exist.

Interesting excerpt from the article about this as well:

" Ennis responded to irreverent articles by sending faxes warning him to handle his mail carefully in case it included explosives, which Altman interpreted as mailbomb threats.

Apparently all talk and no action.

I'm in too, heck I even made the mistake of trying to help the guy. Seems he needs some kind of de-interlacing medication but I'm not qualified in that area :)
I'd also add voice to the need for MORE monitoring of this forum, this isn't the first time thing have spiralled way out of control. I guess many of us (myself included) have to share the blame simply by being drawn in.

It usually happens over weekends, and I would not like to ask some Sony person to take time over the weekend to police ourselves. Its embarrassing and we're not kids. A little DIY would go a long way.
Nat wrote on 2/14/2005, 1:35 PM
Sony should ask certain neutral users of the forum to moderate, like the nuendo/cubase forums. This would help get rid of all this junk.
