Yes, it is possible to set a keyboard shortcut to do any menu function in ACID Pro 5.0 by using the menu options:
Options > Preferences > Keyboard tab.

Ctrl+F12 is already assigned to Play/Pause but you can change it to anything you’d like.

X is a toggle. Press it once and it solos. Press it again and it unsolos.

Thanks JohnnyRoy. I think there is something wrong with Acid on my system. X does not toggle - I expected it to but it doesn't. It's a one way trip on my system. I'm also getting glitches and skipped beats. It reminds me of Acid 4. I tried changing some keyboard shortcuts - eg p for pause. It didn't work. Are there any settings I can check?

Thanks again,

Chris

Just make sure that the timeline has the focus when you press X. I don’t know what else to tell you. It toggles for me.

I thought it was the "Enter" keyboard touch to pause a song... Am I right ?

Hi again, it is definitely not toggling here. I've checked the focus.. The shortcuts seem flakey. With earlier versions of Acid pressing a number key always seemed to move the cursor to the corresponding marker but now it often does nothing. I'm finding the process of using ACID much less intuitive than it was - but then perhaps something is wrong.

Fadengo: Both Enter and CTRL+F12 toggle playback/pause.

Chris: Odd that the keyboard shortcuts don't work even when the timeline has focus. (ALT+0 (that's a zero) is the keyboard shortcut to focus on the timeline. Press TAB to focus between the track list and the timeline itself. You can tell when the track list has focus by the blinking square cursor.)

You don't have any customized software loaded for your keyboard, do you? I remember Logitech's MouseWare software creating havoc when trying to use mouse shortcuts in ACID. Maybe the same applies to you.

If not, have you tried other standard troubleshooting steps, like reducing/turning off video acceleration?

Thanks for the suggestion, Iacobus. I am using winkey that assigns shrotcuts to combinations using the windows key. i also have support for Japanese Language enabled. I'll disable Winkey and see if there is a difference.

Ok - it's not Winkey - removing this program had no effect. But I've discovered that iit is a focus problem. I click in the time line and solo using X. If I then click in the time line again I can then press X to unsolo. But I have to re-establish the focus by clicking in the time line. This seems wrong. Just like to confirm that people can solo with X and without doing anything else unsolo by pressing X agaiin.

Thanks,

Chris

Yep, I can event click the start/stop transport buttons with my mouse and then press X again and the track will toggle solo on and off. I just tried it.

Thanks JohnnyRoy, I wish I could! Do oyu have Windows XP SP2 installed? I wonder why my X isn't functioning properly.

Cheers,
Chris

No. I don’t have a week free to debug all the problems it’s going to cause so I’ve avoided it like the plague. ;-) I’m still on SP1.
