Anyone used either or both of these products? What's your likes/dislikes and recommendation on the best in your opinion?

Both have steep learning curves, though Finale is a bit easier to get up and running with. For pure power and flexability, Sibelius is my choice.

These tools are aimed at the high end user. A composer that must deliver the printed score at the finest level. There are other less expenisve tools that will give you the basics of score and notation at 1/4 the price.

I will add that I am not an expert in either, but just dabble because I have them available.

If you use Finale, but still (like me) do not feel able to "deliver the printed score at the finest level", you'll probably find that most publishing houses will take your Finale files off you and finalize them professionally. I'm not sure if Sibelius is quite there - as a standard, I mean.

I use Print Music which is Finale lite. I needed it for grad school. Sibelius has a rep for being easier to get started with, but Finale still has the bigger over-all rep. The last review I read put them about equal. Finale also has different levels, including a free version.
