?

You're trying to record MIDI via your external synth? Or are you trying to record the sounds your external synth produces?

You're welcome!

So you want to record MIDI but can't monitor what's coming into ACID? (Or do you want to record digital audio but can't monitor what's coming into ACID?)

What level do you want to show?

When you record MIDI in ACID, the meters are NOT showing the audio level. Is that what you mean? They are showing the MIDI velocity 0-127. Peter correct me if I’m wrong but this is what I’ve observed.

So if you are asking how to show the audio level when recording MIDI, it doesn’t matter because its not being recorded (i.e., it would make no sense to monitor the actual audio). You can adjust the audio levels of MIDI during playback.

We monitor the "existance" of MIDI data being input.

Yes, but the scale seems to be the velocity in that MIDI data. Correct?

No. Just existance and density of the msg stream.

Density... that’s heavy. ;-)

Ya, that was a mind blower for me also.

True, I don't use Acid much (not a loop guy) but when I do record MIDI I see 127 at the top of the scale (Acid 4) and the level meters (known MIDI parameter) seem to correlate to velocity. I mistakenly assumed that was the case myself.

Now I'm left wondering what the "density" MIDI parameter is. Very interesting <scratching head>.

I say maybe a nonsence.
I would like to see in the levels , the reading of track midi of external instruments.
So I could add effects with acid for example.

We just established that this is what ACID does. The level meter in the record dialog is showing you the MIDI data from your external instrument. Is this not what you want?

I’m still confused about what you are doing. If you truly mean MIDI effects then ACID doesn’t support MIDI effects. If you really mean AUDIO effects, then you should be recording the AUDIO OUT of your external instrument NOT MIDI!

Do you want the SOUND of your instrument in ACID or the MIDI KEYSTROKES of your performance in ACID?

Thank you for your explanation.
It is clear.

With tracks midi files recorded with instruments vsti, the level appears.
With an external instrument, there is no level which appartait.
