Subject:multi cpu compatibility

I was wondering if Acid 5 works and takes advantage of multi cpu's. I am not talking about hyperthreading (although I guess I am curious about this as well), but two physical cpu's.

I'm getting an all new system and want to get the fastest possible.

I'll be rewiring to reason alot, and also rewiring to fruity (if that ever works, it currently doesn't with acid5), and also SLAVING acid via rewire to Sonar 4 occasionally.

I know with true dual cpu's screen redraw is supposed to be fast, even at high cpu load and low latencies:)

I'd be looking at a dual opteron setup.

People over at the cubase forums are having nightmares with rewire (especially reason), and hyperthreading and multi cpu's.

Does anyone have real world experience with any of the combinations I have mentioned with acid, in a dual cpu setup?

Obviously this is not something I can test first, that's why I am relying on others.

cheers.

sorry, i thought this was a good question? there must be SOMEONE who uses a dual cpu setup, and if not, surely Sony know if it works?

Sorry, I’m just using a P4 3.0GHz with hyper-threading.

ACID does, indeed, use multi-CPUs if you have them as well as the HT feature in Pentium 4s. However, in order to take advantage of the dual-CPU feature, the OS must support dual CPUs as well. Windows XP Professional does; Windows XP Home does not.

XP home DOES support hyper-threading and will probably support the new dual-core CPUs.

great news. do you also know if it works whilst rewired with reason?
