weird problem

Hi all,
I am sort of having a weird issue or mayb i haven't figured it out yet.

I capture video using vegas video capture. It automatically makes several clips and numbers them as clip1.avi, clip 2.avi.....
When i import all the clips into vegas, in the explorer window, it is not sorted alphabetically (descending order). I pressed Ctrl + A and dragged all clips to the timeline window. But it doesn't take it in descending order-everything is mixed up. Like clip 25 might be sitting next clip 10, like that. So eventually if I make mpeg, i see mixed dates and not chronologically.

Is there an easier way to do this?

please suggest me.

thanks,

drb

I may be wrong because I do not do a lot of pre-numbered sequence editing but I believe it places items on the timeline in the same order you drag them over from the media pool - so if you took clip1.avi, clip2.avi, clip3.avi and so on they would show up that way on the time line. Likewise if you took clip3.avi, clip1.avi, clip2.avi they would show up that way. Follow me?

I think Edward (JetDV) may have done a script for this at some point.

THanks for the reply. Could you please point me to the script?

I am wondering why nobody complained about this feature. It is quite dreadful if you are dealing with many clips and need to drag them one by one.

thanks,

You know that you can sort files in the Vegas Explorer the same as Windows Explorer by left clicking the column header of choice; e.g., in your case left click on ‘Name’ to arrange clips by numerical order (one click for ascending, two for descending) and then drag them to the timeline.

If you drag with clip #1 all of the other clips will follow in perfect order. If you drag with clip #20 then all of the other clips will follow #20 in perfect order.

If Edward doesn't pop in here to answer you can go over to his site and ask/post - JetDV
