Subject:REWIRE (not in use) possibly killing Acid session

My Acid sessions have been dying sudden deaths and in the smoke one of the error messages that so thoughtfully mentions that it enncountered a problem with some rewire module
Well, I don't use rewire - never have and I don't have any other programs running at the same time (which might possibly use rewire)
I wonder if there is someplace t remove the Rewire function - I couldn't find it in Prefs
This is Acid Pro 4.0f
This is definitely trashing my work groove so any help would be much appreciated

Try turning off all rewire devices in the prefs. What sound card are you using? I have seen that problem with my delta 24/96. If I use the mbox, I don't see this problem. If you are using a 24/96: I am not sure of the latest drivers for the delta, I am just using it for midi. Check for driver updates.

The ReWire error msg is just a result of the problem, and does not indicate the cause.

Do you have any consistent steps that reproduce this problem?

Are you using any specific FX plugins or softsynths?

For a while I thought it had to do with various plugs and possibly the use of VST.DX wrapper
but it has also happened recently with something as simple as two tracks and jsut trying to edit one of the midi tracks. It has also happened just doing a save as - with no effects.
One other error message I noticed contained something about "ntdll.dll".
Often while running the program it will let me know that I am low on memory - which I know is not the case - it doesn't necessarily close at those times, though.
Basically, it is just exhibitting all kinds of crazy behaviour - I have both done a repair and a re-install

Not much to go on here. With out some kind of consistent sequence of events, it is pretty much a ghost.

If you do get it again, and you get any kind of a cryptic list of info that indicates ntdll.dll, please copy the information and post it here or email to me.

Thanks
Peter

Peter any idea what MSAUDITES.exe is?
I just made another post about this but I wonder if it is possibly a problem here...
It starts with my WinXP and sometimes (i am never sure when - sometimes right at startup) will begin eating up huge amounts of CPU until I kill iit in Task Manager and then everything runs fine - but I can find no way to keep it from starting and I can't find any info on it on-line
So I am wondering if possibly it is a necessary but corrupt file for Acid - or any thing in the OS that Acid might depend on?
Thanks David

I find no references to this file on my machine. Google did not turn up a single hit. I did find a msaudite.dll, which appears to be part of Windows.

I don't know of any reason why we would need this, but I am asking.

Did you locate where on your machine MSAUDITES.EXE is? Locate it and right click on it for properties. This will tell you something about it.

You should also scan it for virus.

Do a search for this file in your registry as well.

nothing in registry - other than references to my previous searches for it
It lives in System32
and the version info for it makes it look like Microsoft and it has the same file date as the msaudites.dll
It does not come in on my virus scan (yes - updated) - but I just sent a copy to my virus scan software company to look at
I am coming to the conclusion I can do without this but I am never really sure if simply deleting or renaming a virus .exe is enough to zap it - it seems not to do the trick in some cases - so I await word from my virus scan providers - for now I'll rename it
Thanks for following up on this
