What would be nice is if Acid 5 would actually close down, so that I may re-open fruity loops and edit my beats. I, formerly, was able to edit my beats in real time in Acid 4. Now, FL won't allow me to stop the playback of the acid track, so that I can focus on Fruity.

I keep having to reboot my machine to kill out the Acid 5 application, to free fruity loops back up so that I can use it, because Windows still sees that rewire relationship as active.

Oh, what fun it is!

Imageline line has admited that there are problems with FLStudio 5 related to both its ReWire Device and VSTi support. This was confirmed on a post in this forum.

We are waiting for them as there is nothing we can do about it at this time.

Have you contacted Imageline? What was their response? If they have cause to blame ACID, please, let me know who you contacted so that we can work with them.

Are you saying that when you don't use FLStudio that the problems persists?

Could you define these problems out side of your use of FLStudio?

Yes! That's exactly what I'm saying.

With all of Acid 5's inability to actually close out, with stuck midi keys and poor midi support, the dropped beats in FL Studio/Acid, the infighting with acid and various other VSTI's has me pulling my hair out.

What I seriously don't understand is why Sony would invest any sort of effort, or time, into the cheezy, unnecessary "Groove" tool, while neglecting the real backbone of the program which is the Midi control and the VSTI support. And, I've checked out that Groove tool too. "Patent Pending" it may be, but I don't think there's gonna be much stiff competition to clone it. Unimpressive, at best.

How does Acid 4 work so wonderfully, and Acid 5 so terribly? It's not like my Pentium 5 (2.6 ghz), with 1 gig of ram, 290 gigs of hard drive space, running Windows XP Pro, on an Asus PC4800 motherboard, with an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 needs to be upgraded to run it. Or, is this program so system demanding that it does? If so, that's pretty bad.

So, whatever the nice, comfy relationship existed before, between FL Studio and Acid, has now been ruined. It has made the music creating experience anything but productive or enjoyable. I have invested over two weeks in an attempt to create a harmonious working environment...with absolute failure.

So, I ask this: Just how long should a person have to wait for some sort of update, when the original release should have at least been functioning on a base level. Acid 4 worked fine. What happened? Was this not built on the core of Acid 4? Or, did Sony designers feel it best to start over again, from scratch, in hope that they could do it better? If that's the route that was taken, it was the wrong way to go.

But, instead of an update date in sight, I get responses about how it's a "midi loop", driver problems, conflicts with the VSTI's, and numerous other mid-stroke attempts to comfort, console, or explain. This is now what I paid for. I didn't spend my money on cyber/programmer psychologists to listen to all of my software problems. What I paid for was (or at least I thought was) an application that would sport all of the fine quailties of the prior version and then some. What I got wasy anything but.

Sure, sure, the face looks the same. But, the brain is quite different. Acid is basically a shell of what it once was. Pretty interesting how Acid 4 (no "a", no "b", no "c") worked better than version 5. It's starting to look gimmicky, proving the user with toys instead of full blown tools. This software arrived, on shelves, in on November 8. Like that poor, poor Netscape Communicator, it was obviously premature.

In a nutshell: flakey, buggy, unstable, conflicting, and aggrivating translates into "unusable".

I am trying to help. If you choose not to work with me, there is nothing I can do.

Not everybody is experiancing your problems. If they were, we would be able to reproduce and correct them.

I have read and reviewed every one of your posts. I am unable to reproduce your problems. I don't doubt you are having problems, but the only thing I can do is ask you to work with me. I am willing to do what it takes to determine the cause of your problems.

Since we cannot reproduce your problems, the update cannot address your problems. Your waiting for an update will cause you as much frustration as you have now.

Again, my offer still stands. I am willing to work with you to solve and correct your problems. If you'd rather email me directly, please do so:

You must understand that I am frustrated. And, in being so frustrated, I am losing confidence in those who are directly responsible for the output of product. I mean no personal attack against you, or the rest of your technical support staff. But, it almost seems like some of us, out here, are falling through the cracks. At this point, I have no as to what the problem could be, considering that different versions perform different errors.

I'm just extremely frustrated with why and how this wont work.

I must apologize, whole heartedly. FL Studio 5 is the actual culprit in all of this.

After an uninstall of every single music app that I own, then reinstalling it without FL 5 on board, process of elimination has declared that Acid works fine with FL 4.5.2 .

Using other VSTI's within the framwork of FL 5, along with the native FL 5 app, causes Acid to keep crashing.

Sorry, guys. I blamed the wrong people on this one.

But, that groove thing is still lame.

Thanks for sticking with it. I have had nothing but fits with FLStudio and ACID. Believe me, I really want to have them work.

I write the code for all of this ReWire stuff and I take it very personally when something isn't working. I am more frustrated by things like this than you can imagine.

I hope to have some kind of response from the FLStudio guys soon. I am sure they are as frustrated as I am over the problems. I can imagine that they are burning the midnight oil trying just as hard to solve this and other problems their users face.

Regards,
Peter
