I just downloaded the new Acid Pro 4 demo and tried 3 times to install it "after" uninstalling the older Acid Pro 3 demo. I even tried (on the third time) cleaning the rgistry of all Acid stuff and I keep getting the same pop up on installation. It says: "The Installation Wizard has ended prematurely! Your system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, please run the installation again. Click the Exit button to exit the Installation Wizard." Any help or success with others? What modifivations does it want and where is this information? The release notes mention "Download the installer sfxACID40_pro.exe and save it to a folder on your hard disk." But this is not the file that the download sent me. Gary |

If you're using Windows ME or 98, make sure to close all background programs through the task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete). You may also need to install the latest update for the Windows installer from Microsoft. Ted |

Ted, I just reinstalled Acid Pro 3g with no problems and it runs fine. I then tried your Acid Pro 4 demo again and it "still" will not install?? Simple logic seems to indicate SoFo changed something in the installer and it does not work here. Gary |

Try deleteing the extracted setup files (usually at C:\program files\sonic foundry setup\acid4.0) and then extract them again from the downloaded .exe Are you logged on as an administrator? Windows XP comes with DirectX 8.1, are you running any directx beta such as ver 9? also run windows update and get all of the .Net framework updates and any windows installer updates. Hope this helps. |

I have tried deleting the setup directory'files for Acid 4. I also tried cleaning the registry of all Acid finds. I do have all the Windows updates installed for Win XP. I also tried another MS download of an Installer Cleanup utility. I hve Direct X installed with whatever came with XP. I run VV3c, SF5, Sonar 2, and many other apps with no problem. It appears that I am the only one having this problem. Maybe a clean install of the HD and Win XP will clear it up. Strange that Acid Pro 3 demo still installs okay and runs fine. I also, as many know, beta test many apps and possiblly something is interferring?? I can not comment too much because of NDA's like I have with SoFo. Just strange that I am the only one having this problem. Gary |

copy the installation files into another dir on primary hard drive/partition, such as: c:\temp\setup it should work from there... sometimes, these installer programs have trouble executing from a directory that has too many characters in its path. so, reduicng the amount of characters in path can resolve the problem. cheers |
