So, I've rearranged most of my hardware, to accomodate for conflicting IRQ's. But, Acid is still having major stability issues. And, to make things worse, the MS Desktop SQL thing won't install. It gets to about seventy percent and then just dies. I've tried reinstalling it three times and it's a no-go. I have no idea what to make of that.

The MIDI functions, on Acid 5, are really nice. If only the program would remain up and running long enough to fully utilize them.

Tell us you computer peticulars: hardware, software, ram, everything.

I'd be careful assuming that the problem is acid 5.0. It could be, but with other people using the products you mentioned, it is doubtful. Just keep giving us information and we'll find a solution... eventually.

If you’re having IRQ conflicts then the instability is more than likely cause by a driver problem than an application problem. (i.e., a driver that ACID is using) What cards do have in your PC that are causing conflicts?

Well, I adjusted my IRQ settings, so that nothing conflicts. But, it keeps on crashing.

For some reason, when Fruity Loops is playing as a VSTI instrument (multi) Acid and Fruity butt heads and then kill each other out. I'm not sure which one's doing what. I do know what Fruity doesn't crash when interfaced with the Korg Wavestation SR, the Korg N1/R, and the Roland EM-55. But, Acid does when interfaced between these modules.

I'm not sure what to do next. Any ideas?

Also, I'm using a Midisport 2X4 and a M-Audio Audiophile 2496.

I guess I'll just wait for the update to use this thing.

Hi there

I just wanted to tell you that Acid is very unstable un my PC too. I have a P4, 3.4 GHz, 2*sata raid discs, 2 Gigs of memory, ATi 9800 pro, running it through an E-mu 1212 soundcard. This should be it, but Acid crashes when i play my tracks and scroll at the same time. Unexpected and without the slightest warning. It also made one of my acd files unuseable! luckily i had a backup oif it.

The crashes when scrolling during playback issue is exactly what I've been experiencing.

I have logged it with Sony, but after suggesting I check my drivers were up to date (they were) and that there were no IRQ conflicts (there weren't) their latest suggestion was that I disconnect all USB peripherals.

The only problem is, my soundcard is a Digidesign MBOX, so I'm a bit stuck !!!

Still, glad to know I'm not the only one experiencing this problem...

what problems are you having with the mbox? I use an mbox with Acid5 and it works flawlessly. I had all sorts of problems with mbox and acid4, but they all went away with the upgrade. Are you using the digi asio drivers?

geez if i had to disconnect all my usb devices i'd be in trouble. I have a usb2 external 200gig hard drive with all my acid loops on it, a usb midi interface, and a usb mouse. I have a laptop. how else can you use a mouse on a laptop? no ps2 ports.

Luckily, since i have formatted and installed everything from scratch, acid has been pretty stable.

I know 100% though that since it's been installed my pc shuts down and reboots slower than it did. I did simple back/forth comparing with system restore.
