I'm hoping someone on the board can tell me if you can use SoundForge 7.0 to take a standard stereo mp3 song, where there's like a buried or "quiet" vocal spoken word piece within an 80s rock song, and somehow "isolate" the spoken part or vocals ONLY, taking out the music bass and instruments so I can hear the spoken section very clearly, and boosted if possible. I was trying all afternoon but I couldn't manage to do this. I managed with Nero Reloaded wave editor to somewhat isolate the vocal tracks, but barely so, and I need to really hear the spoken piece in this particular song very clearly to fully decipher it. My email is Scott.Briggs@worldnet.att.net if anyone has any advice on this, thanks in advance. Scott nyc |

Generally this is impossible so what you have been able to accomplish with EQ so far is the best you can expect. Alternatively you can check FAQ # 6 and search the forum for "remove vocals" even though that's the reverse of what you are trying to do. MJ |

yeah i had a horrible feeling someone would say this. Unless you somehow have a multitrack copy of the piece, and a multitrack mixing desk or studio, you aren't going to have an easy time of pulling vocals from a regular stereo mp3 mix or CD etc. Well, thanks just the same for the reply. I did manage even with the Nero Reloaded wave editor app., to get it mostly in the right channel and a little more audible or "isolated", but still not quite as isolated as I'd hoped for. I'm friends with some of the remnants of this band, so I"m going to ultimately ask them and hope they a. have the lyrics written down with that spoken bit or B. remember what it was somehow! Thanks again, Scott nyc |

The compression aspect alone (is it 128? or lower?) will hinder that process even more. MP3s are really useless to work backwards from. Good luck! |
