There's a technique that i want to create. It's quite popular and as old as the hills I suppose . Pretty subtle. And I don't know how it's done. A good example is the song Breathe, by télépopmusik. A simple pulse/drone, and over 20 seconds the pulse is phase shifed, or the harmonics are changed, or the wave form is changed. I haven't been very successful with duplicating this effect. Can this be done with the Acid 4 filters? ANyone want to give me a few pointers? ( I know about filter envelopes - just haven't mastered the effects) THANKS |

Try putting the track through a chain involving a Parametric EQ (start with the "phone line effect" preset) and the Flange/Wah-Wah effect. (You'll have to decide what kind of effect you want, but I'd guess a subtle flange will help you out here.) I’m not familiar with this song but I went to a couple of CD web sites to hear a preview and if it’s the part I heard, it sounded like the synth had the filter frequency modulated by an LFO. You could look for a resonant filter plug-in and automate the filter frequency or try a flanger as Iacobus suggested. There was a lot going on in that song so it was tough to know what part you were referring to. (of course I only heard a preview so perhaps I didn’t even hear the part of the song you were talking about) ~jr |
