I've been using Sound Forge XP 5.0 to record old records and turn them into CDs, but I 'm having a problem. I cannot figure out how to assign tracks to each song so my CDs can skip from track to track and not run all together. Somebody help me!! |

Save each song as a separate .wav file and then use some other CD burning software to burn the disc in DAO (Disk At Once) mode. Each .wav file will become a track on the CD. |

I think you could even separate and name the individual tracks on another program such as Nero, with it's editing application. or do as described above. I think you can also just record the whole LP or cassette as one SoundForge .wav. file, and then separate the tracks you want with silence or sever them into separate tracks, and THEN just isolate and save the tracks you have divided up, no? Doing it track by track is annoying, it's best to record the whole LP, or each side, and then add silence between and/or separate them on SoundForge (or another application like Nero) afterwards. |

If there is no blank space between songs; Place the cursor at the start of the audio in the file. Press "m" to insert a marker. Press the spacebar to start playback. Press "m" again at the crossfade location to insert another marker. Repeat to the end. Click Special > Regions List > Markers to Regions, when prompted click yes or ok. In the Regions List window highlight a region click enter to edit name. Click tools > Extract Regions and save them to a folder and burn them all in your burning software using DAO (disk at once) to prevent spaces between tracks. If you have blank space to eliminate between songs; Press "[" at the start of the song. Press spacebar to start playback. Press "]" at the end. Press "r" to create region and name it. You can fade in and fade out each region if desired. Repeat to the end. Click tools > Extract Regions and save them to a folder and burn them all in your burning software using DAO (disk at once). You could do this in Sound Forge also without having to use another CD recording software. Goto your Long file with all the songs. 1. Select Song1 in that window. 2. Drag this selection outside of that Window 3. Another Wave editor window will be generated with what you drag selected outside of that Window. 4. Goto Tools>Create CD with the Song1 window in view 5. Click on "Add Audio" to burn that song to CD 6. Goto Step1 and now select Song2.....and repeat..etc. 7. When finished burning all the songs to CD, select to "Close disc" in the CD burning window. |
