In one of its back issues it included a free copy of Particle Ilusion SE (the light version). You can go to the Digit website and order the back issue if they still have them in stock.
It will probably cost you about $18 if you are in the US. Digit is from the UK.
I used it for one project, it absolutely rocks! I just wish I had more projects that need the effects--its so much fun to use. How many programs can you think of that you'd say that about? Oh geez, I'm starting to sound like an infommercial...time to move laundry...
PI! Brilliant simple and effective software. It Does what it Says it will do .. and you have very straightforward & simple control of the prarmeters. - G
Thanks guys, you didn't see that one before ? Swear I thought I posed it here. And lemme just say that that was the project that taught me the importance of motion tracking and why I would love to see Vegas support it. On quite a few of the effects shots there was camera movement so the only way to make the effects work was to use third party motion tracking software and import the data in to PI. Made what would have been hours of pain in the arse keyframing ( that may or may not have looked natural ) effortless. I actually had to do that in Vegas ( the keyframing/track motion ) on the shot of the three pictures that pan across the screen, and as much as I tried, without motion tracking in that scene still looks less than perfect.
I liked it so much, ive set up a ditribution channel here in Australia for it.
One thing to note about it, is that you cant input dv avis into it from a vegas render. However if u render the clip to raw avi, it will accept it. Vegas will also run it on the timeline (the rendered particle clip) as either an overlay composition, (using vegas as the compositor) or u can render the whole clip within PI3's composition setup..
Absolutely AWESOME software.
Kudos to Alan for managing teh development and marketing of the product on his own. Its a big job and hes done really well with it.
