Subject:Changing Tempo of one loop in project

I'm using one of Mick Fleetwood's drum loops in the SONY CD. For some reason, it sounds just a *little* slow. Drags just a bit. Sure enough, my project is at 140bpm and the blasted loop's tempo is 139.437bpm (don't ask me WHY his loop is such an odd tempo).

How can I get the drum loop to 140 bpm without messing with my whole project?

Thanks,

Rick

It may be that the rest of the project's hit points of loops are slightly before. This doesn't matter just as long as your whole projects hit points are at the same place. I would either try moving your hit points on the fleetwood loop or increase or decrease (can't think which at the mo - i'm at work!) the speed in the properties tab for the fleetwood loop. This may not be the right way, but this is how I've taught myself to do it and it works for me. I'm sure the more experienced users here may offer up better solutions. Hope this helps.

Because Mick is a real person not a drum machine and most of the loops in the collection are slightly off perfect tempo. What they do is have Mick play a series of drum patterns and then they chop them into loops later (in post). Even though Mick is playing to a click track there will be human variations on the loops. That’s what I LOVE about ACID; that human feel to the loops.

You could use something like Sound Forge time stretch to make the loops perfect. I would try using a Groove map. This will let you adjust the individual hits and make the ones your feel are slow, hit a little earlier. That’s the first thing I would try to correct the feel. Create a Groove from Mick’s loop and then adjust the groove the way you want. (i.e., Right-click on the track header and select Add to Groove Pool. Then move the pink groove markers at the bottom ahead of the blue beat markers at the top to make them hit early)

That's the reason why I just bought JR and MD's book! Then I won't have to keep using my cack-handed work arounds!
