I recently bought a compaq presario with windows XP and tried to install ACID Music 2.0. For the past few years I've been using it on an HP Pavillion with Windows ME with no problems, yet when installing it on my new computer, it seemed to stall a few times, and now that it is loaded, I am having trouble with sound recording and playback. It seems that it is only recording into 1 channel, and playing back through the right speaker only. Using windows Sound Recorder program, I get sound out of both speakers. The speakers work great, and I haven't had trouble with any other program, so I am wondering if ACID Music 2.0 is not compatible with the new computer. I have made several calls and asked around, and everyone seems to think that I may need different drivers, or just an updated version of ACID. I'd prefer an updated version of ACID, rather than download the drivers. If anyone can help, Id greatly appreciate it. Thanks |

You can pick up the latest ACID Music 2.0 update here. Try also getting updated soundcard drivers for your specific model as well at Compaq's site. If I remember correctly, ACID 2.0 (any version, including ACID Pro 2.0) isn't supported under Windows XP, since it was created before that OS was released. Windows XP is a way different animal than Windows Me. You may get it to work, but your results may vary. Thanks for responding. I would like to pick up the current version of ACID Music Studio. If I replace ACID 2.0 with this, can I expect any problems, or should it run fine? Thanks again. |

It should work fine but those are "famous last words". ;-) I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Make sure you use an upgrade option. ACID Music Studio is only $29.95 when you upgrade from the Sony site. ~jr |

You can download the demo to make sure. http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/download/step2.asp?DID=527 HOWEVER, if you edit a current project in Music Studio, make sure to save it under a different name. If you don't, you might not be able to re-open it in 2.0. Mario |
