Subject:Normalizing MP3's for Broadcast

I've posted this elsewhere but with little success. I've been asked to help a community access station to normalize a couple of thousand extant MP3's. I had hoped that Batch Converter (5b) would do the trick - but I'm getting very unpredictable results. We need to average-out the level of the tracks for amateur DJs. I realise that this is not the best way to go about this but they have already put the time into converting the files. Anyone had any direct experience with this and could recommend a shoe-string solution? Many thanks |

BeSweet has a very good normalize function , where you can set all the points ... it also has a batch mode -- and re-re-encode to mp3 with the very highest quality encoder .. just set up the parameters and use the batch function , it is very straight forward to use (drag all your files at once into a big window and hit go .. |

mp3 gain is an amazing tool -- specially since it does not need to re-encode the mp3 and also uses very advanced algorithms to determine loudness ... and it is free .... |
