NAB Vegas Event pre-announcement

Spot|DSE wrote on 1/23/2005, 12:05 PM

I'm not sure what a pre-announcement is, but it's the language I was given to use. :-) This party is sponsored by a number of companies, so I'll leave it to you to view the mailer to find out who, rather than listing them all here. Thousands of $$ in door prizes, top-notch professional presenters, and some screenings will take place at this event in honor of our favorite software suite.

Seriously though, if you're even just considering attending Vegas this year for NAB, check out the Post Production Conference as well. We're working with the Post Production conference folks to make this the most Sony software-centric NAB ever. For the first time in the NAB conferences, we'll have sessions featuring Vegas, Acid, Sound Forge, and Noise Reduction in addition to the other sessions. This is your chance to get in on the first year of the Vegas and ACID bootcamps, as well as the HDV classes at NAB. There are more than 250 conference sessions to choose from at NAB this year, and there are more than 20 sessions that will show, teach, or demonstrate Vegas, ACID, or Sound Forge in those sessions.

Looking through the post production conference shedules I only see Vegas and Acid at a Getting Started level. Am I looking on the wrong place or is this not scheduled yet?

I'm assuming the bootcamps will be a more indepth experience, where to find these?
Bob.

I don't believe that those links are hot yet, Bob. That might be why I was given the "pre-announcement" language. I know you're trying to plan judiciously, so I'll see what I can find out for you.

Many, many thanks!
I only just realised that the Post Production stuff starts before NAB kicks off.
Can I add there's a pretty large number of Aussies going, just our group totals five inc wives, we could smuggle in some Vegemite if anyones in need of a 'fix'.
Bob.

so, are the NAB shows for industry professionals and not geared toward the masses?? obviously never been to one but was looking at the registration, bout a THOUSAND BUCKS for non=members? Not-for-public consumption convention I assume?
Spot|DSE wrote on 1/23/2005, 5:24 PM
The show is an industry show, not a public consumption show. For the show itself, not the post production conference, there are lots of places you can get free NAB passes. You don't need to join NAB, just attend the show. This alone will get you into the Vegas event. Additionally, the Post Production Conference has session, day, and week passes depending on what you'd like to attend. There is a link from the VASST site to where you can make this happen, visit the link provided in my first post.
Plus, if you're there, you'll be able to witness not only all the new technology, but be present for new announcements from all the various manufacturers there. We'll have a few of our own that we're saving for the Vegas party.

http://www.nabshow.com/registration.asp will show you a lot of options.

Would this include a possible Sony announcement about Vegas 6?

Vegemite is a national icon, sadly now made by a US owned company!
I guess it's an acquired taste, made from the spent yeast from beer brewing I think, it's almost black in color, pretty salty but very rich in Vitamin B. Goes well on toast. Check it out here:

Yeah! Typical "lack of imagination" nicked our venerable Marmite product concept and well . . . spread it about! Typical!

I still have a Vegasmite Tshirt from the first VASST tour in Sydney. I guess I should take a photo of it and display my Australian pride.

UH, ya think?

SoundForge 8 just announced, so Vegas 6 announcement right now seems unlikely.

I believe Vegas 5 was launched at NAB2004, wasn't it? And was Vegas 4 launched at NAB2003? Don't remember. If so, it looks promising for Vegas 6, as NAB is still over two months away...
Jay_Mitchell wrote on 1/24/2005, 11:28 PM
Vegas 4 was released a month or so - - before NAB 2003

Vegas 5 was in fact released at NAB 2004

And, Vegas 6 will be released on <edited> :-}

I can't speak to any Sony announcements, that's for them to make or not make. I can tell you that several of the sponsoring manufacturers will have announcements at the Vegas Users Group event. We'll have one of our own announcements there too. It's a great place to network, put faces to names, meet some industry leaders, and see some good stuff happening.
