Hey about the Midi function, one thing that really tickles me is, when I record (let's say) a Piano jam, I loop a section of my song, and then hit Record to do so. I'm not a quite good player, and I do a lot of mistakes. I'm not a robot too, and I'm not a perfect-one-shot guy. So I make *multiple takes* in one take over the playing loop.

Then I have my midi track all over the rest of the song.

Here comes the nightmare :
1. Finding out the good riff I made (AP5 Record function DEFINITELY lacks of Markers)
2. Once I've found it out in the main sequencer... I discover that I have to re-find it out in the midi properties window to cut the rest of the recording out and make a nice loop. At first, I thought there were "Parallel" selections made or something to help us know where we're editing the midi track.

Maybe by saying WE, I'm being too egocentric or something... How do you guys get this kind of job done usually ? Don't say you're robots and that you use midi samples downloaded on the net ^^ (lame joke I know).

PS : And by the way I wondered if in the Sony Team, there were a good music composer / producer who tests the workflow of Acid and suggests all the Ideas and worflow details (that can be fitted in a acid-logic-way)... Like this one. Don't you guys need a product crash-tester ?

I do MIDI loop recording and I agree having markers would be very useful. Even if the MIDI editor had a Trim-to-Loop function that would be great. What I do is find my best performance in the chopper and then use Chop-to-new to make a MIDI loop of just the part I want.

If you trim your MIDI loop on the timeline and then right-click and choose Select in Chopper the chopper will open with just that part selected. Then right click on that selection and choose Chop to New Track.... That should give you the final loop to use in your song.

i can't remember the last time i used the midi editor in acid.

i just split the sequence up at whatever the length of the loop is, then copy the track for each run, line them up to the loop, solo the loop, and solo each riff until i find the one that fits.

i know it sounds a bit complicated but with key commands that whole thing takes about 5-10 seconds.

coolout's technique seems to be a good workaround...

Tell me more about the key command you're using !
