For the ones creating music with Vegas.

I use Vegas to make music , i use it as others might use a sequencer.
I create all kinds of music but mostly electronic stuff and i have been wanting midi /rewire and all the stuff that has been mentioned in the past here on the board.
I have officially given up on vegas supplying the needed functions for someone like me that´s creating music in Veg rather then just recording.
I do however love using it for just recording and editing so i´ll keep on using it for just that

When creating tunes in Vegas i find very frustrating to move big sections and try things out in Vegas as its just not very fluid in that respect.
So i present to you the ultimate workflow that i just recently stumbled upon.

What i do is take the song im working on (when i have the basics down and have done all my recordings) and i make regions for 1 bar or whatever you might want to use and then i set the tracks up in sections (ambience, bass , drums etc ) and render each section with included markers/regions.

Then i open the tracks up in SForge and extract regions to seperate folders for each selection of tracks.
Then i open up Ableton Live and set the regions up as clips in the same sequence as the song and Voila...total freedom !!!!

Now you have the tune in its original form but are free to try whatever mix of sections you might think of.
Now you are free at last to do MIDI / rewire /arrangements and LIVE arrangements .

I mention this because it takes me 10 minutes to set up a tune from vegas into Live ....Awesome! ...Finally !

I prefer to just play with a bunch of other musicians in a room recording to Vegas live. Old school I guess.

SArnar,

Are you sure you shouldn't be using Acid , not Vegas ?!!

Yeah I am sure I should not be using Acid im sure as I need Vegas to record stuff and i dont use any timestretching or acid like functions.

It is possible you know to use programs for something they were not entirely made to do and for me thats where all the fun is .:)

Im just saying that IF you create music on Vegas which i happen to do and love it for exactly that then its very easy and convenient to transfer it to Live for rearranging stuff and coming up with new ideas for already recorded material.
In fact Live & Vegas is an incredible combo , I guess you have to try it to see what i mean .

It's a bit long in route but I see how it works for you. But remember, you're mainly talking about remix/electronic/D&B/etc music ("collage music" is a term used).
And with that, I agree...I've always been a proponent of bagging with the feature separation and make the final, ultimate media creation/editing application (rather than CHEESY product separation). Video, audio, cd creation, midi, looping tools, ctrl support...al of it.
Look at all the sf tools, then picture them in one app. Look at the sf UI in comparison to the competition.
My plead stands sony/sf - build the flagship app I'm talking about

But, i think others are trying to tell you vegas works especially well for live music tracking/multitracking.
We all get the idea of media manipulation/collage music.
