Subject:Would I be better served to keep using Acid Music 3.0 or should I use AcidXpress?

I've been happy enough with 3.0 however I will probably upgrade whenever they come out with 6. In the mean time is AcidXPress a better product than the last update of Acid Music 3.0? I'm really hoping that Sony will make Acid software a better program for audio recording. I also use Sonar 4.0 PE but Acid is still, imo, easier and better for producing music using loops. So...what'cha think?? |

ACID XPress is limited to 10 tracks and NO effects. I doubt that will make you happy coming from ACID Music 3.0 with unlimited tracks and ExpressFX track effects. I would definitely stick with ACID Music 3.0 if those were my two choices. Why don’t you upgrade to ACID Music Studio 5.0? It’s only $29.95. (Heck I can’t fill my car with gas that cheap!) Here is a comparison of the ACID line. ~jr |

Ditto on what JohnnyRoy said. You'd be taking a step backward in flexibility features. You'd be better served by upgrading to ACID Music Studio 5 instead. Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid Buy Instant ACID by JohnnyRoy and Me! Now! mD at ACIDplanet |

Where can you get Acid Music Studio for $29.95? Is that an upgrade price? |

Also, AcidExpress is a limited version of Music 3.0, so even if you do "install it" and click on the Express icon, it will open Music 3.0 anyway (at least, that's what it did on my old system). |

Thanks JR. I'm considering Acid Music Studio as a first time purchase. I've never owned Acid before and only recently discovered Acid Express. Definitely a lot of fun. I currently use Tracktion for VSTi and effects. I can't afford Acid Pro so I'm wondering what I'll miss by using Music Studio. |

> I'm wondering what I'll miss by using Music Studio ACID Music Studio doesn’t have DirectX FX. It comes with a limited set of FX called ExpressFX but you can’t add any 3rd party FX. It also doesn’t support VSTi’s, just a single DLS soft synth. Since you have Tracktion, you’ll want ReWrire support and ACID Music Studio doesn’t have this either. You really want the Pro version. I would download the trial version and see what you think. Since you already have Tracktion for VSTi’s you might find ACID Music Studio useful for making background parts that you then render to a wave file and bring into Tracktion to add your own tracks. Not as nice as using ReWire but it will work. ~jr |
