Compressing Audio?

I love Movie Studio + DVD!!!!!

When I render a DVD using "Optimize" to adjust the bitrate, DVD Architect Studio tells me that it has to compress the audio and the video. When I play back the DVD, the audio is reported as PCM 48K/16bit. This is the same format as the original DV tape. What's compressing?

48K is the sample rate, not the bit rate - it has to be 48K for the DVD standard. That said, PCM is an uncompressed format anyway. If you're in PAL land you can use MP2 instead, and there's a reasonable chance you'll be able to use it with NTSC, even though it's not supported by the standard.
