Hi, I've recently looked at the GroovePool tool. Seems to be very usefull but I didn't get how to make my own. Anyone could help me on this one ?

How can I create my own preset ? Must I always start with an existing preset ?

TIA
Isaac

Hey Issac,
I do not know of any official tutorials......yet, but help is on the way.
Sony is about to release it's ACID Pro 5 Software Training DVDs, part of it's Seminar Series:

Discs 1 & 2 — Seminar DVDs contain five interactive, tutorial-style class sessions.
Disc 3 — Content DVD contains all of the media you'll need to follow along with the classes.

More info here:

There are even a couple of short sample videos, one of which, deals with creating your own Grooves, via Groove Cloning. The other short video show you how to more effectively use the Media Manager, when searching for media:

This is also covered in the new VASST Instant ACID book, which should be available in Feb '05. Iacobus does an excellent job of explaining the groove pool. In fact, there is an entire chapter (Chapter 7: Grooving to the Beat) dedicated to this topic.

You can also find information about applying and editing grooves in the ACID online help.

Click F1 to launch help, and then navigate to the Grooves section using the Contents tab: Contents > Using ACID Software > Working with Grooves.

Hope that helps,
-Kevin

Fadengo
here's the link to the "new features" manual (since it's a little hard to find the usual way through "downloads") :

http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/products/acid5newfeatures.pdf

... bottom of page 26:
"You can also export grooves from one project and import them into other projects. A bit later,
you’ll create new, custom grooves. You might create a new groove that works perfectly with your
project, and then decide that you’d like to use it in another project. For instance, 2Grooves.acd
again project and notice that the Groove Pool includes a groove called Hard Swing. This groove
is one of the default grooves but we’ll use it as an example to demonstrate the export function"

... and so on... all "step by step" guide
Have fun!

I've checked the help, that introduces well the groovepool feature !
Thanx.

That's a shame thow you can't CTRL+C/CTRL+V the grooves and that it doesn't lock to event though.

The tool and its idea are a great production shortcut !

Thanx to Sonykevin & Futz

One very nice feature about grooves is that you can make a groove from an existing loop. This means if you have a guitar and bass part that are not grooving together, you can make a groove out of the guitar part and apply it to the bass part and they will now play in the same groove. Very kewl!
