Subject:Batch converter?

Hi folks - I haven't visited for a while, but it's good to see the faithful are still here... I'm now with SF7.0, and would like to know if what I want to do can be done. I'm no expert, but I think it comes under the heading of batch conversion... essentially, I want to record a script in one continuous take, edit out the fluffs, then break it up into several files each of one paragraph and name each new file, then convert all of these WAVs to mp3 format, keeping the same name.

Is this "batch conversion?" Or is there another term...? (I feel slightly embarassed at asking, and I'm sure I should know! But then I'm a humble voice-over guy, not a techie...) More to the point, can SF do it? I can't find anything in the help index, and scouring the website leads to a download of Batch Converter 5.0 - free if you have a SF6.0 - or earlier -key (which makes me wonder if it's already a part of SF7.0, if you see what I mean.)

If SF7.0 can't do it, what can? Ideally, I'd like to save all the WAVs to a folder, Ctrl + A to highlight the lot, and hit a button to convert them all to good quality mp3s.... too much to ask? Incidentally, I'm not convinced that SF7.0 is any longer the right tool for single-voice recording since I've now invested in a Yamaha digital desk which has all the EQ and dynamics processing on board. Might I be better off with Pro-Tools or similar? I hope that doesn't seem disloyal - I do like Sound Forge, and have been with it since SF4.0, but times (and equipment and needs) change!

You can record in any software config you want, that will not make much difference.

As for Batch Converter, it's not avaialble with SF-7 and they no longer support it on the earlier versions, but it's still downloadable if your a reg. user of SF 5, 6.

For splitting up a file: place Markers , convert Markers to Regions, then select: Tools> Extract Regions, and you will have separate files.

See the other Batch Converter post for batch MP3 converts
