Subject:Acid 5 - Saving Loop Information, BUG or MISUSE?

Acid just gave me a fatal exception error while I was moving between the Media Manger and Explorer. I'd just been in the process of listening to a loop as a loop and then as a one shot.

If I want to use Acid to convert a loop I thought I would put the loop in the track list double click it there to get properties, change the track type and then use save file. Acid then asks me if I want to save legacy stretch information, the default answer is yes. I click yes and the file should be saved? If this is the case something is wrong because when I go back to explorer and bring the loop into track view its properties haven't changed. Am I doing something wrong, or is ACID?

Thanks,

Chris

Chris, Could be a bug in ACID. You are doing everything correct. Saving the file to a new type in the properties dialog should change the type of the file. I can’t test it right now but this is how it should work.

Thanks JohnnyRoy. Another possibility is that the file is slightly corrupt in some way. I discovered the problem was happening with all files, just some. I resaved them to the same spec (overwrote the files) using Batch Converter and got better results. Not perfect though. I've also noticed that sometimes the option to edit files in Soundforge is greyed out until I bring them into the track view and sometimes even when I do that option is greyed out but if I open and reclose Acid the option comes back. Not sure but something doesn't seem quite right.

If you are having trouble editing files outside of ACID, make sure in ACID you have the General Preference: Close media files when ACID is not the active application [x] checked. This will cause ACID to release any locks on the files when it looses focus and then re-read the files for any changes when it re-gains focus. This is perfect for using ACID and Sound Forge together.
