I am running a dell dimension with its stock soundcard and I am having a problem finding the control for the input volume. I can easily adjust the input volume monitor level, but can control how “hot” or “loud” the signal is ENTERING the computer. Normally you can control this by going to control panel: sounds and audio devices: then under the audio tab, you can choose the volume button for the recording device. The problem is, when I slide the level, it does nothing. Any suggestions on how to fix it? When I select record in acid, I can see the levels going into the computer. When I adjust the “line in” level on the volume control window, it doesn’t affect the signal going into the computer, just the monitor level of the signal. This is hard to put into words, but my point being how do I find the adjustment for the level of the signal as it enters the computer. It’s a standard 16 bit sound card that came in the computer. It has 1/8 inch stereo plugs for in, out and mic in. AIM: liberator32 |

If you can put the volume all the way down in this panel and you are still getting sound coming from your input, something is wrong. Does this PC have a Soundblaster or Audigy card? They have their own program to control them. Otherwise, I would contact Dell and ask them what is going on. What you are doing should work. ~jr |
