Long mpeg2 render times

I'm rendering a compilation of 16 clips totalling 00:34:40.25. It took Vegas 11+ hours to render a Main Concept MPEG-2 file using the DVD NTSC template. Is this normal? It seems kinda excessive to me. I normally just work with audio in Vegas. There were no effects applied to anything other than a simple volume envelope with only 3 points along it. Also there are 16 markers along the timeline at the start of each clip.

My system is...

Pentium 4 2.40GHz
512 MB RAM
Windows XP Professional SP 1
HD have been defragged prior to render.

Thanks in advance for any advise.

not normal , not close to normal. Maybe left an effect on you thought you deleted, sounds like magic bullet film effect.

what kind of files are they ?

Most are .wmv and a couple are .mov.

I haven't added any effects except the volume envelope.

If your source files are at a low resolutions and/or bit rate (ex. 320x240 bps 250 k)
Then it will take many hours to render.

That's probably what's going on. Thanks.
