What's the status of Vegas these days?

I used to read and comment in these forums daily but recently have visited very little due to time constraints. Just wondering what the latest is on Vegas product updates? Chien? Red? Other regulars? Anyone have any ideas if Vegas is continuing on and will the be doing another update on the audio side?

Just curious if there is still a development team over there.

Vegas is alive and kicking. Acid 5 just came out.
I would think that Vegas 6 should be emerging next.
Vegas 5 has been rock solid and great for me.

Good to hear. I've been using Vegas regularly in studio for video and audio projects and just haven't checked in. Seems like last I heard its status was in doubt. All I hear in other studios is Pro Tools this and Pro Tools that. Vegas gets it done for me, especially on the video side.

Well said – and both a blessing and a curse IMO. I think its the double-edged sword that keeps Vegas from being thought of as a serious competitor to the the other main audio apps. Of course its not marketed in that way so obviously Sony isn't pursuing that route. As an audio only user of Vegas, I can't help but be disappointed though.

Seems that's all I hear as well. Universities seem to be stuck on PT as the tool of choice. Mind you, I've never used that Ap, but, to echo other sentiments, Vegas (ALWAYS) gets it done for me.

It sure does get a lot of jobs done, and the interface is slick as... but there are so many things that other apps do that I wish Vegas would in its own intuitive way. I'm really counting on Vegas 6. Feature requests have all been voiced already.

I'm hoping that Vegas6 won't require .NET, which required me to start logging into my own computer. Yes, small potatoes, but why ? What does .NET do for anyone ? Sorry to be ignorant, but at least that's temporary, eh ? Stupid is forever, ha ha.

.Net is required for Vegas' scripting, it's going to be more and more necessary for other programs as well.

As for the "logging in", go to Users in Control Panel and delete the user with the name you don't recognize. I forgot what it is now, it's been some time but it should be obvious.

Thanks MJ ! Yes, it was obvious, and even though I just deleted it, I don't remember either. Now if I could just find the email with my V5 serial number, I could try V5t again. I'd backtracked to V4, and have had fine results, so no real issue, just hated to be one of those stuck-in-the-old-version guys.
Thanks again,
