Subject:Loop Converter

Here is an old topic but I just wondered if there have been any recent developments. I'm looking for a program that will allow me to convert loops into Acid One Shots. It should be able to convert more than one loop at once and shouldn't be too expensive. I think Chickensys Translator might do the job but in it's cheapest form is $70 which is more than I want to pay. I had a look at the Acidizer demo but this was unstable and kept crashing. There used to be a thing called Acidhead but searching for it just now I could only find references to a trojan.

I know there has been discussion before about the problems with Acidizing loops but I'd really like to Sony or someone develop something to at least change groups of files to one-shots. Changing files manually is frustrating especially when one knows what the settings should be.

Since Sony won't bother to update its own Batch Convertor (wich would have been a primary candidate) you must look elsewhere.
Personally, I use the Translator Giga version, but then I also have Gigastudio...

Thanks for the reply, Erik. I have a lot of soundfonts. Which translator would you recommend for dealing with them. I have fruityloops and Acid only. I'm still using a Soundblaster Audigy but I have plans to dump that. I hung on to the Creative card for a long time because of the Soundfonts I have, but I'm not really using them at the moment.

All the best,

Chris

go on Google and do a search for 'Acid Blotter'...this was a liitle tool which worked fairly well for doing exactly what you need. Let me know if you can't find it, I'll see if I have it somewhere.

You don’t need a Soundblaster card to play Soundfonts. There are several free VSTi Soundfont players that work great with ACID. Best of all, they render with the project because they are software VSTi's and not hardware based on your sound card.

For example: rgc:Audio SFZ is an awesome VSTi Soundfont player and SynthZone Soundfont Resources has pointers to tons of free Soundfonts. (I spent a week there one night) ;-)

Great tip, JohnnyRoy - the SFZ player is brilliant! Now I don't need to think about converting my soundfonts. Cheers, waynegee. Acid Blotter looked like it was going to do the trick. I got it to convert a loop to a one shot. The problem is that for some reason it doesn't see the partition where I house all my loops. It's on an external USB2 hard drive. There are two partitions on the drive and Acid Blotter sees one but not the other. Frustrating.

All the best,

Chris

PS Thought I replied to this thread this morning but doesn't seem to have shown up. My apologies if my reply comes through twice.
