I need new glasses! I thought I was adding a new tag but I ended up deleting my bass tag. I now have lots of loops tagged as bass but no corresponding tag in the tag panel. I tried creating a new tag and renaming it Bass but Media Manager won't associate that with the files. Is there any way of getting the association back? Thanks, Chris (Hunt) |

Well it looks my question is moot. I loaded and unloaded the library and all the bass tags disappeared. Looks like I'll have to re-apply them manually. When I first tried this at one point the files appeared to have two bass tags, hence my question. I have another question, though. When I first tried to delete a tag I got a warning message. There was a checkbox to disable the warning. Foolishly I checked it which was how I was how I managed to delete my bass tag in the first place. My new question is how can I get that warning message re-enabled? Thanks, Chris. |

Had you ever saved tags and properties back to the files before you deleted the Bass tag? If you had, you could scan those folders again w/ the option to "Add tags and custom properties from files" enabled. The media manager would see the Bass tag in the file's metadata and then add it back into your tag tree. As you're learning/exploring the media manager you may also want to back up your media library occasionally. You can do that through the media library actions drop down menu from the toolbar. |

To re-enable warnings, hold down the ctrl and shift keys while you start ACID. However, this will reset _all_ your ACID preferences. If you are feeling brave and are very xml aware, you could try editing C:\Documents and Settings\ your login name \Application Data\Sony\Media Manager\MediaManagerConfig.PerUser.xml and adjusting the value for ConfirmTagDelete. Not ideal - we should have a way to do this for you in the options. |

Many thanks, I don't think I'm XML aware but I used notepad to change the line: <ConfirmTagDelete>false</ConfirmTagDelete> to <ConfirmTagDelete>true</ConfirmTagDelete> This seems to have done the trick. Regarding saving tag information to files - how do I remove a tag from a file once it has been saved? Is there any way of editing tags through SoundForge 7.0? Best wishes, Chris |
