The documentation for 5.1 rendering in Acid 5.0 doesn't seem to reflect reality. 1) It says to render to AC-3 you need the Sony 5.1 Surround Plug-In Pack. But the website site Sony doesn't sell that any more although you can buy the AC-3 Encorder for $199. And presumably that works. 2) The documentation also says you can render a 5.1 project as 6 separate .wav files, but I haven't been able to find a way to do that. 3) The documentation doesn't mention anything about .wma files. However, there is a 5.1 template for .wma files. I tried rendering to a .wma file and I did get 6 channels with the proper speaker outputs. However, I also got a lot of stuttering that I don't hear when I play the project. (But that could just be my sound card. I have an Audigy 2 ZS.) Does anybody know if you can render a 5.1 project with 6 channels without the AC-3 encoder? |

Did you have a midi track in this project? When I render to WMA 5.1 with a midi track I get all types of stuttering also - but like you said plays fine while listening to the project; only in the rendered WMA file. I also have a Audigy2. I'm in the proccess of getting a new sound card. I'm sick of creatives driver bugs! That's odd! They don't seem to be selling the ac3 encoding package any more. If you own DVD architect or Vegas + DVD you will have access to the ac3 encoder - if not you do not, you cannot encode to ac3 |

Nope. No MIDI tracks in this project. I also use my Audigy 2 for 5.1 mixdowns to .wma in Sonar and Cubase and don't have any problems with stuttering. |
