| Subject:5.0 Gapping and Crashing Posted by: Dodger27 Date:12/30/2004 9:34:06 PM OK, so I get gapping and stopping during playback whenever I get over 8 tracks in a song. Actually I can use 12 or so loops 8 or so beatmapped and only 4 ors so solo shots. I used to be able to do 14 in 4.0 on my old Pentium III, and now that I have upgraded to a Pentium IV 3.4 GHz with 1 Gig of DDR Ram I realized no gain in track capacity with 4.0 and a decline in tracks tolerable in 5.0. I guess this could be due to the fact that I am recording in a higher sampling rate now. I have checked the "render big wavs = wav64" box and have increased the playback spooling buffer. I beatmap or loop whenever possible. I have pulled all unnecessary TSR and background programs out of the system and still have too much gapping and crashing. What else can I do? Dodger27 |

Make sure they are 7200RPM, using DMA, are defragged, etc. I keep my audio files a second hard drive so that its not contending with the Windows swap file for disk access time. ~jr |
