I've created a database containing all the loops I use. I'm just wondering whether I did it right. For example, when I check the tag acoustic piano I get 14 items returned but I have the American Piano loop library. These don't get picked up. Is it that they don't have a piano tag by default and I should tag them myself? Also I wish the Manager would put things in alphabetical order. I have a large collection of Sony Loop libraries but they seem to be listed in any old order. I noticed I can drag them around and change the order but it's very fiddly. Now that I've set the database up is it necessary to have the Sony Reference Library loaded? Thanks, Chris (Hunt) |

For the first question: You could certainly do that. Highlight the loops from the library (do a standard Windows selection of multiple files using either CTRL (non-sequential files) or SHIFT (sequential files) and click) and then drag the acoustic piano tag over to them. They will all then be tagged. Second question: Simply click the "Name" column in the Search Results window to organize by alphabetical order. Third question: You could keep it loaded, especially if you add more Sony loops to your library later on. Shouldn't really hurt anything. You're welcome. :) Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid Pre-order Instant ACID mD at ACIDplanet Guitars 4 Kids |

Thanks Iacobus, Currently I have the Reference Library unloaded. The Media Manager seems to be faster without it. I guess if I do get any more libraries I just need to remember to switch it on before tagging them. Regarding alphabetical order I wasn't referring to the files in the search results but the actual tags themselves - they seem to be all over the place. I still find myself using the Explorer as much as the media manager. Perhaps when I've done more tagging I'll find it more useful. I still wish the explorer had forward and back buttons similar to internet browsers. Also I wish Sony had done more to improve searching for missing files when loading old mixes. Oh well, better get tagging! All the best, Chris |
