Unable to Monitor While Recording With Audigy 2 Platinum ASIO When I tick monitor while recording audio, I can hear the metronome (fantastic - about time too) but no audio. If I untick monitoring I can hear all, but doesn't record anything. I have no probs with cubase sx or Acid Pro 4 (now uninstalled) in the past. If I uncheck autosync will it help? Also: I can't get ASIO to enable at 24bit whereas again I could in Acid 4. I can monitor in recording with other drivers, but why should I ? They suck. Pro responses only please. > When I tick monitor while recording audio, I can hear the metronome (fantastic - about time too) but no audio. If I untick monitoring I can hear all, but doesn't record anything. Are you selecting the correct Record device at the bottom of the Record dialog? You must select the inputs that you want to record from. Then go into the Creative Volume applet and make sure your Audigy card is also set to record from the same input. I believe both of these must match for recording to work. > Also: I can't get ASIO to enable at 24bit whereas again I could in Acid 4. You have to use the 24 bit ASIO driver. If you select the Creatve ASIO driver or the Audigy ASIO driver, you will only be able to record in 16 bit/48K. If you select the Audigy 24/96 drivers, you will only be able to record in 24bit/96K. The Audigy 2 does not support 24/48 or any other modes. Just those two. ~jr |

yes i am using the wave in/ wave out mains creative inputs are properly set to line in (for the mixer) They are matched. of course it supports 24/48 mode. i do it all the time in SX. even has 48 in 32 bit float mode, so I am not sure if you know the card well. And I have it set to the proper native audigy asio drivers. Right now I have it down to 16 just for ease of argument, and it still wont record and monitor. Acid Project settings match card Audio settings too. |

Perhaps I am mistaken because I didn't use the Audigy 2 for audio recording long before I replaced it. My experience in ACID was that I could not set the Project Properties to 24/48 and get any of the three ASIO drivers to work. It is my impression that the Creative ASIO drivers do not support 24/48. Cubase SX does not use the Creative drivers (they use their own ASIO drivers) so you are getting a software conversion happening because the hardware itself cannot do 24/48. If you check the Creative web site they will state: ASIO drivers for low latency(< 2ms) multi-track playback and recording at 16-bit/48kHz Note they don't list 24/48 under their ASIO specs. I don't believe you can set your ACID project properties to 24/48 and use the Creative ASIO drivers. At least I was not able to. (you can using the Microsoft Mapper) ~jr |

thx I will try this, but in all likelyhood it will once again mean a return to SX ($!$!) |

Why on earth would you choose to record with Acid as opposed to Cubase any way, makes no sense to me. Each to his own I suppose. What you might try are third party drivers... ASIO4All... http://michael.tippach.bei.t-online.de/asio4all/ KX Project... http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/index.php?skip=1 I find either of these to be far superior to the Creative issue drivers, and should eliminate your problems, lower the latency, and give you more choice for recording select sample rates.... |

I like some things about acid. I like the ease of throwing things together. I've tried both of those drivers and they generally suck. Well, not totally true. I read all the lit on kx twice, and each time was put off by some stipulation regarding possible errors that I said fuck it. I'll check it again and let you know what put me off. |

Open the Creative Surround Mixer interface, all the way to the right, under REC, select Analog Mix (Line/CD/Aux/TAD/PC). A plus symbol (+) will appear just below the word "REC". Click on the (+) and an ADVACED CONTROLS dialog box will open. Here you can CHECK or UNCHECK the "RECORD WITHOUT MONITORING" option box. It should be UN-CHECKED for your purposes. If it already is, check it then click OK, then goto it again and UN-CHECK it. Sometimes it just needs to be cycled to reset it. Hope this helps. I usually have to re-check it after I do a software update to my Audigy2 Platinum. Peace D.J. JackHammer |
