Recording Audio with Acid??? is it possible??? -ACID Product Family

Posted by: DickWhiskey Date:12/23/2004 3:28:15 AM I have read the forms up and down, and cannot solve my problem so I am here to explain what I am working with, and what my problem is... My System: Dell 8100 (with Bios Revision that supports audio) Windows XP Home Edition OS 1024 gb Memory 2x 80 gb 7200 rpm Hard Drives (all my music files on the storage drive) Matrox Dual head AGP Video Card ATI radeon 7500 PCI Video Card (for use of 3rd monitor) Sound Blaster Audigy OEM (for listening to mp3s and such) w/ Creative 5300 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers Audiophile Delta 2496 (with downloaded beta drivers for use with XP) w/ Roland Micro Monitors MA-8s Behringer Eurorack UB1002 2 Bus Mic/Line Mixer and some other crap that is irrelevant... OK...So I got the Mixer hooked into the ins and outs of the Audiophile and the Roland monitors coming out of that...When I attempt to record I switch my system over to the Delta 2496, and in Acid I use M-Delta asio....For regular use I use the sounblaster card to listen to music while I do my work....I love the interface and everything about Acid, I aslo like to play guitar and bass over the electronic drums, loops, and sound effects...SO HERES MY DILLEMAS (i might not have spelled that right)....When I record guitar or bass into Acid I have the following problems....1: My signal is way to low, wether I record from my amplifier using a microphone, or the record output of my zoomfire-15...The volume ends up being so low that by the time I turn it up to match whatever loops I am using, the instruments sound like crap.... I have tried setting volumes and level with my mixer, and nothing works out.... and my second dillema is 2: When I do record the very, very low recordings that I do, the tracks bleed like crazy....For example...If I make a drum track, 2 percussion tracks, and 5 tracks of ambient sound when I record the guitar, my audio track will have guitar on it, and those 8 tracks of loops as well....So when I go to record a second guitar I am basically recording the original 8 tracks and the new 9 tracks, and eventually it just gets so muddy that I havent been able to make an entire song since I first got Acid 5 years ago....So basically what I need is help recording audio in Acid....I can write beautiful music with loops and soft syths, but I NEED my guitar in there to make it officially mine...Any help that you can give me on this topic will be GREATLY, GREATLY, APPRECIATED.....YOU COULDNT EVEN BEGIN TO UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH...... First thing to try is to get signal to your card without going through the mixer. Plug your guitar straight into the cards inputs and see what's happening - you may need an adapter (I'm not familiar with that card's inputs). Hopefully this will solve the bleed issue. If the level is too low, you'll need something to boost it - a preamp, a pod, or something (I don't know what a zoomfire is). If this gets you good signal, you can keep it this way or you can try hooking up to your mixer- You probably don't have the mixer set up right. Most people use aux's to feed the input of their sound card. That way you can mix what is going to the inputs. If none of these suggestions help, then we're going to need more info. What kind of mixer, how you're hooked up, ... PS - I would chuck the soundblaster card. PSS - Didn't you play bass for Van Halen?
