A Christmas song

Spot|DSE wrote on 12/19/2004, 9:53 PM
A couple years back, I did a Christmas song for Windham Hill, that we redid with children's voices and the Turtle Island String Quartet. I meant to share it earlier, but failed to remember.
Anyway, it's up on the web for y'all to share with anyone you'd like, any way you'd like so long as it's not broadcast.
It's called " Doo'iit'saa'da'" which means "A Quiet Night" in our Dine' language.
Happy holidays to each of you, your families, and your circle of friends.
I've really come to count on and call this community a circle of friends. Many of you have helped me out with things from time to time, and it's tremendously appreciated. I hope your 2004 has been a successful and special year, and that your 2005 only brings wonder and prosperity to your door.

Spot, that is truely a beautiful song.
I am getting ready to edit a video for my mothers 90th birthday in January and would be honored if I could use this song (the video will be for family viewing only). It has such a nice feel it, I think it would go well with the still/video montage in the video.

Thank you for this "gift" and the many you have given this community in the past. A happy and prosperous 2005 to you and your family.

Geez, you guys are gonna make me choke up with the use of the Dine' language. It's truly one of the most beautiful, expressive, and gentle languages of this planet.

Actually, much of Spot’s music is very relaxing in the same way. If you haven’t heard it, I highly recommend his Closer to Far Away CD and Voices CD. I listened to them both while creating Ultimate S (trust me those were some long hours) and his music was just very refreshing and uplifting.

I agree Doo'iit'saa'da' is a very beautify and peaceful song. If you guys like that one, pick up his Closer to Far Away CD and listen to Dieshu. It will affect you in the same way.

Thanks Douglas - love hearing you make that flute sing.

How many people are still using Dine' ?

Seasons greetings from 38 degree Perth - the only snow is on the Christmas cards, and even that's melting ...

Peter

Yesterday it was 34 Degrees in Noosa, Queensland.

I attended a Xmas party at an Aged Care home yesterday, where I presented a video of some of their activities over the past couple of months, including the Melbourne Cup (I am their volunteer entertainment producer).

I had filmed the entrance to the Aged Care facility, put it into 3D Studio Max 7, added a blanket of snow, and a heavy shower of realistic snowflakes, and a Xmas Tree with coloured flashing lights.

The opening music track over this scene was Bing Crosby's, "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas". The elderly residents loved it, albeit several of them could not recollect seeing either the snow or the Xmas Tree at the entrance to the home!!

It took several explanations as to what I had done to achieve this, and they all had a bit of a giggle, God Bless Them.

For the record, we never get snow in Queensland Australia.

And Spot, "The Gift" is a beautiful piece of music, thank you for making it available to us.

A Merry Xmas to everyone and a Happy and Prosperous 2005.
