Subject:Best reverb plugin ?

I'll be busy with important mixes and I'd like to use a very good reverb plugin.

Unfortunately, the reverb coming with Acid is not as good as I expect; it makes some "buzz" sound, it's more noticeable when heard through headphones.

What are other good reverbs for PC (directX or VST) ? What's the best plugin ? Has anyone already done comparative tests ?

For native reverb, you can hardly go wrong, with SpinAudio's RoomVerb M2.
It can simulate virtually any acoustic room space with a plethora of parameter controls and a library of over 200 presets to get you started.
It comes in VST & DX format and is both Windows & Macintosh compatible for ultimate flexibility. They just released a RoomVerb M2 version, for the PowerCore DSP card. During the current xmas promotion, you can pick one up for $99.00 (reg. $149.00), until Dec. 31st.

I think right now, especially for the price, you can't do much better than the M2, for a quality native vst/dx reverb.

There are number of free vst reverbs you can find thru kvraudio.com

On the top left click on:

Instruments
effects
Hosts
etc.

Then do a search for reverbs. Also, there are some threads both here and at kvr about reverbs.

ambience is pretty good and free. I use anwida and cakewalk reverbs most of the time, but I also use the free ones as well.

It's getting a lot of talk over on kvr. I haven't tried so I don't know, but you can download a demo from the spinaudio site.

I replied:
One problem with Roomverb is the IR's must be in aiff mode, which is a Mac sound format. Most ir's (impulse responses) found on the web are wav format. The conversion isn't a problem for Sound Forge users. For my money, Voxengo Pristine Space is really good, and there are a TON of free IR's on the web. SIR reverb also gets good reviews, but is a latency hog and can't be used in tracking because of that.

Ozone is`nt free its a mastering package and costs about $250.

A good free (Donation ware) reverb is Ambience, heavy on the CPU but sounds pretty damn good.

Yea, iZotope Ozone 3 is an awesome mastering plug-in. It has a Paragraphic Equalizer, Multiband Dynamics, Multiband Harmonic Exciter, Loudness Maximizer, Multiband Stereo Imaging, and a Mastering Reverb. So you get a lot more than just a great sounding reverb. It’s got tape saturation and other presets that make it really easy to use. You should check out the free trial.

For what it's worth, I swear by Waves Trueverb. It is the most natural, real-sounding space simulator I have ever heard. I got it as part of the original Native Power Pack upgrade, which includes the suberb L2 Maximizer, the C1 compressor, the original Waves Q10 equalizer and a few other bits and pieces. Sure, it's pricey, but a once-in-a-lifetime investment, and still cheap compared to hardware. You can buy the trueverb plug-in on its own for less.

PS the SF Acoustic Mirror is not bad either, and it comes bundled with Sound Forge.
