MPG will not register after XP rebuild

Express wrote on 12/17/2004, 7:34 PM
My XP Pro installation tanked, I successfully repaired XP, and most things are now working again. (it was a REPAIR, not a rebuild as listed in the topic)

I had to re-install two other applications and Vegas (vegas did a repair install also, replacing the existing files), Vegas also re-registered.

When I attempt to do anything with MPG files, I get the registration pop-up, as it should.
When I choose 'Register', Vegas reports an error.
"An error occurred while opening one or more files.
The requested plug-in does not have the necessary features unlocked"

I have the option to click OK or details, details simply shows the .mpg file name I was trying to open.

I am guessing that there may be some Vegas registry entries which are corrupted.
Any idea's how I can get MPG unlocked again?

Thanks,

Chris

Both will solve your query, most likely.
You can also find a variation of this in the Vegas FAQ's, www.vasst.com/login.htm

Thanks Spot, that did it.

I should have found it, but I did a search on MPG, rather than MPEG.

what should i do if running a trial version?

The trial version can't encode to MPEG, that would require Sony to pay for an MPEG license, and that's a little expensive.
