Subject:Where do time-recorded files go?

I'm trying to record a Webcast while I'm away. I've read the manual and seem to be successfully setting up and arming the auto-time recordings just fine. I can see the timer count down to the recording time, then can see it start recording.

My question is: Where do the files go once they're recorded? They're not going to the open window, and a system search for the file name I assigned turns up empty.

Any help?

I've not used the timer record function, but logically files should go to the destination setting in Options> Preferences> Perform

Goto OPTIONS>PREFERENCES>PERFORM.

In there you will see the assignable location where the all recorded files get temporarily stored too. When you Record SF will create a file similarily named like "frg0002.tmp". This is your recorded wave file, while forge is open and recording and the temporary file when you are editing it before you save it. When you Save the file after recording, then this file get's renamed and saved to the location you specify.

The recorded data should be appearing in the open window, after which you must save it if you want to keep it.

It's working fine for me. Make sure you have good levels, aren't in punch-in mode, etc. All timer-mode essentially does is hit "Record" and "Stop" at the specified times. Try a normal-mode record first to make sure you're receiving what you expect.

Users should only be muddling in the temp folder as a last resort, and almost never while the app is open. You can break a lot more than you can fix.

i think the problem was that my hard drive was too full. i had 2GB free on it, but apparently that wasn't enough for a 90-minute recording.

i switched the target folder to one on my second hard drive, and it worked.

thanks for pointing me to the place to do that.
