The Acid Pro 5.0 page says this:

Drop One-Shots in Real-Time
Insert loops and one-shots as you project plays back. You can also create your own loops in the Chopper and add them to the timeline in real-time during playback via keyboard commands for live mixing.

and this:

Drop one-shots in real-time via keyboard commands

I was looking through the manual and couldn't find any references to the feature. Anybody know how to do this and know how well it works in Acid Pro 5.0?

Try the ‘Y’ key while playing.

If you press F1 or select Help > Contents and Index and then scroll down the page to the new feature Insert Event as Play Cursor and click on it. It will explain that you just have to drop a one-shot on a track, start project Playing and then press the ‘Y’ key to drop one shots in real-time. Note: If snapping is on, they will snap to the Grid or note duration you having snapping set to.

Adding to what JohnnyRoy mentioned, whatever your soundcard's latency is set at will determine just how fast you'll hear the One-shots as they're dropped in real time. (ASIO drivers work best.)

Using SHIFT+Y will drop whatever's copied onto the clipboard in real time. This includes just about any other event type as well, like Loops.

if the key you press is 'Y', then how does it know from which track you are dropping in real-time? Also, is there anyway to do multiple tracks?

The way I envisioned this working was that you could assign tracks to certain keys, (track 1 = kick set to 'F' key, track 2 = snare set to 'H' key) and then bang away your beat at Acid plays and records you drops in real time?

It doesn't work anything like this?

thanks for your help, btw!

It only knows based on which track is selected and active for the Y shortcut. (And it's only One-shots using that method.) If you have nonsequential tracks selected, only the track with the active blinking cursor in its track icon will be the one used.

What you could do is turn loop playback on (L or Q on your keyboard) and then while the project plays back, click the respective track icon to make it active and use Y to drop One-shots.
