(Argh can't edit posts !!!) Fadengo, Try the 4.4.2 Update avaible at Cakewalk's official website. It fixes this issue. This is also good for Pristine Space by Voxengo, and some of their delay-compensated plugins. Regards, Peter. (let me do the Q&A, I'm good at it ^^) |

There was a BIG problem with the 4.4 adapter that shipped with SONAR 4. It would crash all other DX host apps that used it, Vegas, ACID, Sound Forge etc.. The updated 4.4.3.3 adapter, included with the SONAR 4.01 update works fine now, in other DX host apps. I just tried using SIR 1.008, wrapped with the updated adapter, in ACID 5, without any problems. Billy Buck |

I've used SIR as a vst in 5.0 with no problems. It is a little CPU intensive, but it works. |

Are you using ACID 5? If so, why not just use the native VST support in ACID? Peter |

Yep I'm using Acid 5, but, I can't stop projects from using Wrapped VST. That's the only reason. Another one is that I donno iAcid f Native VST support, handles the FX Automation right for all the fx. I'll test that after all my current project are done |

I can't stop projects from using Wrapped VST Don't know what you mean by this. Why can't you stop using the wrapped version? Peter |

Fadengo, choose the nonwrapped plugin version, they are clearly marked in the manager. choose the vst version with a vst logo next to it demarking it as acid vst aware. better still, remove the cakewalk adapter from the manager list altogether. It's a little silly wrapping a vst in a vst host. Last resort - use acoustic mirror, SIr just isn't that stable (or nearly good enough to justify its stability problems) |

Guys ! All the projects that I made with the VST-Adapter from CW can't find any of the VSTfx folder specified in Acid Properties. Even If I uninstalled CW VST Adapter. And I've tested this Acid's native VST support. Works fine, but doesn't seem to do delay compensation on some of my Fx. And I didn't see automation-enabled on some Fx (whereas CW finds it for all of em). Now, am I missing something ? |

(Argh can't edit) PS : Didn't test Accoustic Mirror. Is it stable ? Cuz SIR has a very simple interface. Seems kind of stable. I've tested Voxengo's Pristine Space... Too heavy for me. I'm not an Impulse maker, I just want to load good reverbs/preamps/comp-simulators. I'll give it a try. |

Which plugs didn't show a delay compenstation? (This is actually impossible, since it is automatically done and you can't prevent it from happening, unless the VST is broken or doing something very wrong.) Which plugs didn't show automation enabled? Again, if the plug exposes the params, then ACID will show them. If the plug doesn't expose them, then ACID can't see them. Peter |

i hate to poke fingers, but really when installing acid 5 you should go through and reorganize your VST folder, eliminate all the wrapped plugins and the ones you never use. i'm using SIR with AP5 and it works perfectly. Native VST is the way to go and these EMT plate impulses are pretty tasty. |

Some VST effects explicity tell ACID *not* to attempt to automate them. That can be ignored (which is likely what the CW wrapper is doing), but ACID respects it since it is something the plug-in author has to explicity add. Similarly, a VST is only delay-compensated if it reports an initial delay when ACID is about to pass it some data (i.e. after the VST has been otherwise initialized). Some plug-ins never set this or do so at inappropriate times. If you can provide specific examples, we can verify both cases. J. |

I hope I'm not the only one having this issue. I'lll give you guys example when I have the time (with screenshots and all). I've reported a lot of bugs too but noone seems to care about it so I don't waist my time anymore, and I go on with my projects, even if it expects bugs and crashes and rebootings. I'm not talking just to talk. When Acid bugs, most of the time I know why and I don't yell it here. But sometimes I don't have a clue at all, then I just hope to see Acid fixed up. Don't worry about my case, as I didn't give you my sepcs etc. But don't think I'm not just a simple user of Windows XP. I've been doing level 2 technical support on this OS. I mean, I'm not an engeener, but I really know what I'm working with, what services are running, how much memory takes one or another VST/DX, when it crashes and why. Sometimes I just donno why and I don't blame Acid at all. I just blame the combination of Acid with the VSTi/Fx I'm using. But, even if I think this shouldn't happen as a musician, I have enough patience to post here and being a happy Acid user. Acid is the best program ever, and I'm not saying that because I'm on the official forum, but because the sound I make with it is professionnal, from A to Z. Acid is the program with which I signed on Warner Music. Acid is the program about what everybody in the studios says "It's only for the loops right ? But how the hell did you do this ?". I'm a proud user. I'll report all the bugs that I've listed and tested several times when I've finished with this current project. I keep a word document on this ^^. |
