I have Screenblaster Acid 4.0 and I am running Windows XP with a P4 2.4 ghz, with 640 megs ram on my laptop. I thought that would be enough, but no. Even with a new song started, when I playback it slows the song down to a crawl, and almost locks up! I can not listen to what I am working on, in SB Acid 4.0. Why is this happening?? Is there a patch to fix this problem? It is driving me crazy! I may have to go back to my old Acid Music 2.0! Please help! Thank you so much!

I was having the same problem--here's the fix. Go into the sound options and crank up the audio buffers from the default 4 to 5 or 6--this should fix all of your playback problems. I'm running AP5 on a 3.1ghz with 512mb of ram let me know if that helps.

Having a fast system doesn't guarantee you'll have a smooth time with any app. Soundcard drivers that worked fine for one app, for example, might not work so well with another (version). Try what Ziggy mentioned. If that doesn't help, try other basic troubleshooting steps like reducing video acceleration.

What soundcard are you using?

I am using the built-in motherboard sound. It's a Dell laptop, Inspiron 1100.

welp, Ziggy, I tried that. My Screenblaster Acid Music 4 goes up to 1 second. I tried it at .75, but that didnt help, so I bumped it all the way up to 1 second. It helped a little, but not much. I even installed the update for the program. It just gets real slow and chunky during playback! I cant figure it out. Maybe someone will find a solution. Oh well. I had talked to Sony about this in the recent past, but they just told me this program uses more resources. Man, I didnt think it used that much! Maybe I'll just start over. I just do not know. Thanks for helping! I appreciate it! Have a Great Christmas and New Years! (Oh, and if you ever want to hear my Acid Music, I am "Ammon" on Acid Planet. cya!

There's a fairly new driver for your audio. Try that if you haven't already. There's also a video driver that's a couple months old if you want to try that too. As I mentioned, be sure to try other troubleshooting steps as well, like turning off video acceleration and making sure nothing loads at system startup.

Uninstall any apps that came installed with the system you don't use as well. If it came down to it, you might want to try a brute force method and format and install Windows clean. (This is assuming Dell still gives customers a CD-ROM with only Windows on it.)
