Subject:whoops-where'd the track go? Posted by: tedmag Date:12/3/2004 11:38:33 AM Just when I thought all was well, now when I add a track to my project, the name appears on the left side 'track list' but nothing appears in the 'right side' track view! Likewise, when I record a new audio track, the elapsed time at least shows in the track view but without any wave modulation or sound. Incidently, I can hear the vocal through my speakers. I've reloaded the Acid Pro 4 program twice now without making progress. Other details on my set up include...I'm running M-Audio delta audiophile 2486 soundcard on windows xp with the 46 driver. I am also using a audio technica Proformance P650R condensor microphone with a Tube MP preamp . I'm wondering if my issue may involve whether quicktime, media player, etc is the default audio file program. Your helpful comments appreciated Thank you!
Subject:RE: whoops-where'd the track go? Reply by: Chienworks Date:12/3/2004 4:37:57 PM Are you painting the track on the timeline? ACID doesn't do this for you. You may be thinking of Vegas where the event is shown on the timeline simply by adding it to the track.

When I loading a track (through either the pull down menu or the explorer window) it does not show in the track view until I use the draw tool to make it appear. Is there a pull down menu somewhere or a box I need to check so that when I load a file it is ready to work on without being manipulated by the 'draw tool? Your suggestions appreciated. tedmag

Reply by: Chienworks Date:12/9/2004 11:43:31 AM Quoting from the manual under Adding Events to a Track, "When the Paint tool is selected, hold Ctrl while clicking to paint the entire media file as an event." However, i'll point out that having to draw/paint in the event on the timeline is the way ACID is supposed to work. If you are wanting the entire file to show up on the track automatically then allow me to suggest that you're not using ACID for what it's intended to be used for. There might be other software that will do what you want to do easier.

If you don't need to mix the music extensively and are doing nothing more complex than crossfades then even a stereo program like Sound Forge would handle this nicely. SONY sells Vegas which is their multitrack audio editor. Both are also available under $100 as "Studio" versions with all of the basic features and quite a few of the advanced features still intact. Vegas studio is limited to 3 audio tracks, but that should be plenty for what you're doing.
