There's a track volume control in the track header on the left of the screen. This can be raised above zero to increase the output volume of all events on that track.

Hi CorporateSound,

Thanks for helping me . I still have another question can we increase volume in some events in the same track. I do not want all events , only some events that I want . I can do this with analog mixer.

Thanks again

Use the Normalize function to bring the volume up. Right-click on the audio event, select Switches, then Normalize.

I think normalize will bring all events volume up or down simultanously . what I want is some events I want raise the voice volume, some events I want them to be turned down to mix with music ,and again in the same track.

The Normalize switch affects the volume only for the event or events you have selected. All others remain unaffected.

If you wish to adjust the volume in certain places within an event, you can apply a Volume Envelope and specify the points you want to vary the volume. There are many threads on how to do this here and tutorials on other sites.

Hit V to bring up the volume envelopes for a track. You can then create nodes to raise and lower the volume as required. If you're using Vegas 5, you can also automate these envelopes with the track faders or using an external control surface.

Read the manual or help on this, which will guide you through step by step.

A Cool thing for track editing of vocals that I use is "splitting" the event just before and after those TOO LOUD notes. You can then drag the volume of that piece of event by dragging the top edge of the event downward. You can't raise an event volume louder.

I usually get a nice Overall volume first, so that the quietest notes can be heard by using compression. Then for those few unruley spots, use the split and drag method.

To split an event, find the spot where you want to split, make sure the event is highlighted, then hit the "S" key.

for me, this is quicker and easier to use than envelopes, if there are not too many spots.

The automation volume control works really well too for setting up rough envelope points, then go in and hand adjust.

Hope you are enjoying Vegas, it's a really sweet program.
