I believe users have successfully tried getting ACID Pro 4 running on a Mac using virtual PC software. However, the results can be iffy and is, of course, no substitute for the real thing in the long run.

If you don't already have VirtualPC software, or if there's anything else you need to buy to get this working, you're probably better off just buying another Windows PC. You can get something that will run ACID far better than a Mac will for way under $500.

if you can afford to buy logic 7 for your mac you will not need acid. because you can import acid loops into a project via the loop browser. or make your own exs libraries and trigger the loops with a midi keyboard. or any other thing alot easier than virtual pc software.

or try soundtrack. i never used soundtrack but from what i understand it is quite like acid in some regards.

as a former mac user (and yes i've used acid pro with virtual pc) i think you only have two options:

1. get soundtrack - the features and GUI are very close to acid pro 3 but there's no chopper or beatmapper. that'll set you back $200

or

2. get a new PC - you can find a new P4 on ebay for around 300-400 bucks. that's alot better than spending $300-1000 on logic (depending on which version) and dealing with that huge infamous emagic learning curve. stay away from logic unless you have a month to waste learning how to use it.

logic isn't nearly as hard as it used to be. they dumbed it down quite a bit. and it's alot more flexible than acid will ever be. plus all the emagic instruments and plugins. the convinience of having a built in audio editor...the list goes on (actually i'd put more reasons but it's dinnertime and i'mmahungry)

i don't know if they dumbed it down although the fact they added waveform editing to the arrange page is a plus.

i used logic for a while (notator on the atari st, logic 3 & 4 on the mac, and logic 4 & 5 on PC). i was always amazed how even with screensets the interface can be clunky. acid and soundtrack are much more streamlined.

it really depends on what you're trying to do. if you have a mid-size to large studio and you're dealing with alot of outboard gear, midi sequencing or recording a band, go for logic or any of the traditional audio/midi sequencers. if you're primarily manipulating audio or just recording one track at a time, you'll get more done in less time with acid. with acid 5 you really don't need an audio editor.

although the plug-ins and instruments of logic are nice i'd rather spend 300-400 bucks on a new PC and use acid than blow $999 on logic.
