Is ACID 5 ReWired to another host? Does the ACID 4 project have references to ReWire devices - i.e. Reason, Live, P5, etc. Peter |

well, no, i never used rewire with acid prior to trying v5.0 i now have this problem whilst opening ANY project. if it's any help, today i installed a beta version of Reason 3.o on my machine. although i have now uninstalled it, prehaps this is the source of my woes.. whichever way i cut it, i am now unable to use Acid 5 at all.... oh well... i used up all my goes i think... am i right in thinking that i will not be able to re-install the Acid trial? cheers |

This could very well be the cause. We have not tested with the Reason 3.0 beta. Peter |

Hi marII, Are you reformatting your machine to get rid of this error, or are you doing so for a completely unrelated reason (er... no pun intended)? I'm just wondering since I had a similar error for awhile with Acid 4.0, and I made it go away by uninstalling Acid, reinstalling it, and then pointing Acid to only a couple of VSTi's (I think I had a rogue one among my many VSTi's that was giving me problems before). In any case, it sounds like the Reason beta is messing up Acid 5.0 for you, so if you haven't yet, why not just uninstall Reason first, see how Acid works, and if it still gives you errors, then uninstall and reinstall it? It seems awfully drastic to reformat your machine before trying these other steps. Good luck! Kered |

yes, i know.. i guess i am just loosing patience and that is always my response in these situations: nuke the feckin' thing! either it goes or my sanity does [?} I have uninstalled the stupid beta version of Reason 3 and I have attemtpted to re-install Acid 5. Now, I haven't had the alert again, but I cannot hear any sound coming out of the project at all! [even though i can still preview in the explorer and in the chopper]... Argh... lord, take me now!1 guess i shall come back tomorrow with a fresh head... more later i suppose .. .. ... Just for the record, here is the full gobbledy-gook of the error: Sony ACID Pro 5.0 Version 5.0 (Build 265) Exception 0xC0000024 (Unknown Type) IP:0x7C964ED1 In Module 'ntdll.dll' at Address 0x7C900000 + 0x64ED1 Thread: GUI ID=0xE44 Stack=0x12E000-0x130000 Registers: EAX=0012ea00 CS=001b EIP=7c964ed1 EFLGS=00000246 EBX=049c2b68 SS=0023 ESP=0012ea00 EBP=0012ea50 ECX=0012ea4c DS=0023 ESI=000003f8 FS=003b EDX=7c90eb94 ES=0023 EDI=006d3ae8 GS=0000 Bytes at CS:EIP: 7C964ED1: C9 C2 04 00 90 90 90 90 ........ 7C964ED9: 90 8B FF 55 8B EC 53 56 ...U..SV Stack Dump: 0012EA00: C0000024 0012EA04: 00000001 0012EA08: 00000000 0012EA0C: 7C964ED1 7C900000 + 64ED1 (ntdll.dll) 0012EA10: 00000000 0012EA14: 00000000 0012EA18: 00000000 0012EA1C: 002344F0 00140000 + F44F0 0012EA20: 00000001 0012EA24: 00610077 00400000 + 210077 (acid50.exe) 0012EA28: 049C2B40 04990000 + 32B40 0012EA2C: FFFFFFFE 0012EA30: 000000A0 0012EA34: 049C2B40 04990000 + 32B40 0012EA38: 00000000 0012EA3C: 002344F0 00140000 + F44F0 > 0012EA4C: 7C90E591 7C900000 + E591 (ntdll.dll) > 0012EA54: 7C9424F6 7C900000 + 424F6 (ntdll.dll) > 0012EA5C: 7C809C4C 7C800000 + 9C4C (kernel32.dll) > 0012EA60: 7C90110A 7C900000 + 110A (ntdll.dll) > 0012EA64: 006D3AE8 00400000 + 2D3AE8 (acid50.exe) > 0012EA68: 010573EA 01000000 + 573EA (acid50k.dll) > 0012EA6C: 006D3AE8 00400000 + 2D3AE8 (acid50.exe) 0012EA70: 00000000 > 0012EA74: 006D3248 00400000 + 2D3248 (acid50.exe) > 0012EA78: 004EB96D 00400000 + EB96D (acid50.exe) - - - 0012FFF0: 00000000 0012FFF4: 00000000 0012FFF8: 00637390 00400000 + 237390 (acid50.exe) 0012FFFC: 00000000 as if that helps at all./... |

The obvious thing to check would be all your settings since they'd get reset to their defaults after reinstalling Acid. Hopefully you've already done that, but I've certainly had head-slapper moments like that where I overlook the obvious answer. Hope that helps! |

I guess it goes without saying, “Never install beta software on a production PC”. What I would do is look for a Windows Restore Point just before the first installation of the Reason 3.0 beta. This should put everything back the way it was. I always forget about this myself and start uninstalling stuff and it usually makes matters worse. System Restore is your friend. Use it. ;-) ~jr |

If you are running XP, you may wan to use the "System Restore" tool. Take if back to the point before you installed Reason 3.0 beta or even sooner. Peter |
