Hello All, I'm very happy with AP4, but I wnated to try AP5, so I downloaded the demo version, and installed it. After few testings, I can say I'll not upgrade! Indeed, despite the fact that AP5 takes ages to load, it does not work properly at all. I just added 4/5 tracks, and tried to listen to some, and mute some others, but the programs still plays them all, but in mixing them strangly. No way to sort it out. I tested the same loops witin AP4, with the same sample manipulation, and everything runs smooth and fine. jam |

yeah maybe, but can you imagine the quantity of changes made? they did a lot of things to AP5, and you pay for it with your speed. And what the size? Triple! But changes are good, aren't you agree? I woud say the icons could be old :), old windows's standart icons. This may (i didnt test) make the work slow, but anyway we would never mention it, i think (AMD 2500/ 512 DDR PC3200/ FX5700) |

I don't agree, because I'm not a midi user. I've bought Acid BECAUSE of loop manipulation and nothing else. I've chosed Acid pro instead of Acid Pro 3, not because of midi features, but because audio engine was really improved, as I could read it here a lot before I've decided to buy. If I would have great midi features as well, sonar should have been my choice, but it was not. Don't mislead me, I congrat Sony Team for their hard work to make Acid more and more powerfull, but I think some choices go towards too many directions. I still find few features in AP5 are great, and I miss them in AP4, but I will not change my mind and I'll keep my "old" WORKING AP4. Cheers, jam |

I'm not midi user too, but i use loops not so often, i'm a engineer in music, recorder if you like. for example - methronome - is useful feature that is included in AP5, i record live-playing people, master the sound, and mix into end-product. If you see i don't need a midi or a loop handling too :) btw i got many features to include in AP but sony team seems not to hear me, maybe you try? Sony team gives you great opportunity to suggest features! |

ACID Pro 5 takes "ages to load" because it's loading the Media Manager, which can be toggled off if you don't use the feature. Don't know what's causing the tracks to playback even if you mute them. I'd look at your video and soundcard drivers. Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid Pre-order Instant ACID mD at ACIDplanet Guitars 4 Kids |

Sony Vegas is a multi-track audio recorder with a metronome that supports ACID loops as well. I think it would be a much better tool for you if looping isn’t your primary mode of operation. --> hat3k I do agree with JohnnyRoy; Acid seems useless for you, you should go to Vegas or something more dedicated to audio recording. I personaly can't afford "big" software, so I've bought MAGIX Music Studio. It contains Audio studio, which is a "little brother" of Samplitude Pro, with more than 70% of its features. The whole package cost only $49.90, compared to Samplitude which is $999 ---> Iacobus Thanks for you tip. I've unsinstalled AP5 demo version - and it also FUCKED UP my AP4 version (Deleted ALL plugins from both version) - and I can say i'm happy with AP4. It does what I need, and if I need more, I'll find a way to do it with AP4. Cheers, jam I |

If you installed ACID Pro 4 and its plug-ins in a Sony folder (which isn't recommended; it's best to use the default Sonic Foundry folder instead), it may cause such a problem with plug-ins disappearing. It's cool if ACID Pro 4 is working out fine for you for now. Remember that we're here should you ever decide to take the leap. :) Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid Pre-order Instant ACID mD at ACIDplanet Guitars 4 Kids |

---> Jam & JohnnyRoy Thanks for suggestion, but it is like an addiction, you understand me i think. Samplitude - i don't like graphics, heavily coloured buttons etc. And plugins in AP is very suitable for me. Please understand me i used AP since 2.0 But thanks anyway! |

@ Iacobus: I followed the default install process, for both. Anyway, I've sorted out. Cheers, jam |
