Hello again, With AP5, I didn't have the time to switch all my Directixed plugins. I'm not doing it yet because I'm working on several projects with specific FX presets etc. Anyway, I was wondering if all the VST you guys have are automatable, or is there some VST that you need to convert to DX to get the automation ? |

The native VST in ACID 5 Pro does support automation. The VST plugins that I do use, (UAD-1 plugin suite & Voxengo plugins primarily) are automatable, using track envelopes, in A5. You can easily configure what parameters to automate from the Audio Plugin window, click the icon at the upper right hand corner. All of the native VST supported plugins, once scanned, will be located in the Audio FX/VST folder, for easier selection. Billy Buck |

Yea, I use the free Classic Series VST effects from Kjaerhus Audio and they automate just fine. ~jr |

Technically, any VST plug-in is automatable in ACID 5.0 unless the plug-in itself explicitly forbids it. If the plug-in does not provide specific parameters properties, the automation values are all just floating point values betwee 0.0 and 1.0 (expressed as percent in ACID) and you have to keep an eye on the UI to make sure that coincides with what you want. Now just because ACID allows it doesn't necessarily mean the plug-in was designed to be automated. Several I've tested have poor or missing parameter labels, crackle hideously on quick changes, etc. This is usually just a problem with some freeware/shareware plug-ins. The bigger manufacturers are pretty good about designing with automation in mind or disallowing it altogether. J. |
