Hi folks, I just recently upgraded to a Echo Layla 3G soundcard about the same time I upgraded to Acid 5. I've NEVER had pops in my recorded tracks before using Acid...until now. I've defragged my audio drive which is an Ultra SCSI2 Cheetah 10k RPM. I've checked the system load, and it's fine. Got a gig of ram on an ASUS mobo running a P4 3 GHz processor. I've shut off the media manager, and have pretty much optimized my machine for audio. I've tried recording audio in other apps and am not able to repeat the pops. Is anyone else having this problem with Acid 5? Anyone having problems with their Layla/Gina3G and Acid? Please help me get to the bottom of this madness! I'm in the middle of several projects. Thank you, Midihead www.midihead.com |

No, I have not been getting any recorded "pops" or crackles, in my ACID Pro 5 recorded tracks. Although, I am still using the same, four year old, Delta 66 audio card that I have used since ACID 1.0. It sounds like a computer/audio card configuration issue to me. Billy Buck |

I'd think that as well, however I'm not getting the clicks/pops in my recordings in Sonar or Cubase. That leads me to believe that the problem is somewhere in Acid and possibly a conflict with the new Layla3G. That's why I asked if anyone has the 2. Thanks, M |

What driver mode are you using with ACID Pro 5? Have you tried a different driver mode? I've been using my Delta 66, in ASIO mode exclusively, since ACID Pro 4. Typically, I will set it to 1024 samples (23.2msec). I am also using (2) UAD-1 DSP cards with ACID, as well. I really scrutinize my rendered audio files, I even take the stereo exports and sometimes open them up in Sound Forge 7 and examine them @ the 256 sample level for any noticable "gaps", which will give you the pops and clicks you hear in your recordings. The one time I did have this problem, was when my UAD-1 cards were sharing IRQ's with other devices (a big no no). Once I isolated the offending device (a USB Host Controller), the pops and clicks disappeared. Same thing happened when I briefly had my Delta sharing an IRQ with another device, once I got my Delta onto it's own IRQ, the pops and clicks disappeared. In my experience, pops and clicks, in audio, are almost always related to how drivers and devices are setup and configured. Do post back to let us know what the solution is to your problem. It may just help someone else out of a similar situation. Billy Buck |
